above 45, what is your avg HR for an intense run (3 miles or more)?

And how often do you do intense runs?

I'm a 59 yo male. My latest HR for a 5 mile run at a 9:45/mi (not intense, granted) pace was 132 BPM.

I have not run since I was 37 yrs old, heavily pregnant and attempting not to miss a bus. I am now 54. I walk very fast but no running.

Not 45 just yet but almost. I do one intense run a week and HR averages out to above 160. I ran through pregnancies but never ran fast enough to get my HR over 150. My current mileage is about 20 miles a week.

I run about 4 times a week at 45 but don't monitor heartrate. But i'm running about 8/8.5 minute miles so i'm working.

50-year-old female, frequent runner. Resting heart rate is around 50. It hits about 150 mid-run.

A 3 mile run is not an "intense" run. It's a long run. You should be going slower on a long run.

The chiding on this board is exhausting. I wouldn’t consider a 3 mile run a long run at all. Nor would many people. And who’s to say the OP is not already periodizing their running?

Either way, HR information is so variable it’s not a good measure of much of anything if it’s not keyed to your personal zones anyhow.

Why is everyone monitoring HR on a run? I just run.

I’m 44 so a little younger than your target, but average 155-160 on more intense runs. I need to be going really slow to keep it below that (intense runs for me are anything less than 12 min miles). Right now I do about two of those a week but was doing much more in the fall when training for a half.

Yes, so tiresome. On a 3mi run my heart rate will usually average around 140
