And that has nothing to do with this scenario. People get raped all the time all over the world, a sad fact. |
Whether or not she could swim is key and it's odd that news reports haven't addressed it. |
Many have reported that cell phone signal was no good at that resort and possibly at the beach. Also that power was out at the resort so there is a chance that he hadn't charged his phone/wasn't working if he had a cell phone on him that morning. Does security video show that he had a phone on him as the two walked together from hotel to beach 4am+ with their friends? Also he may not actually remember what happened. Or he or others did something and is covering up. Or someone did something and he has no clue what. |
It is not key. Tough waters even for the most advanced swimmers. No one has confirmed she actually went into the water, have they? |
I was just pointing this out if she left at beach alone and drunk. Sadly we may never know what happened to her. The dad thinks she may have been kidnapped. |
I’m surprised there is such outrage on this thread about overall suspicion of the young man who was with her; it’s always the first thing people think of when somebody is missing, in just about every similar case posted about here (and elsewhere) over the years. To the point that people are describing it as “disgusting” and disgraceful”…that’s just odd and unusual. I’m not saying he is guilty - clearly we have very little information. But either way his changing story (three different accounts?), it’s understandable that it raises concern. |
^*with his changing story |
No, it's not. That area of beach/water is dangerous even if you're an Olympic swimmer, OR a causal swimmer who has been drinking for hours. |
He *wants* to believe that b/c it means she's still alive. Its not realistic. |
Because a lot of foreign born Asians don't know how to swim. Swimming is not part of Asian schooling curriculum like it is in VA public schools. My Asian roommate in grad school could not swim, ride a bike or drive. Those are considered essential life skills here, but not in Asia. Some parents might teach their kids but more likely, the kid masters them on their own. |
it's practically irrelevant |
It's not necessarily key. I know someone who was presumed drowned after he went swimming right off the coast in the DR---he was a divemaster and a strong swimmer. His body has never been recovered. |
Out of these many posts on this thread, it's possible a small number of posters have said that of the young man. |
+1 |
Swimming is not part of public school curriculum in Virginia, what are you talking about? There aren't pools in most schools. |
