He looks like every young dad on the golf course on Saturday morning and she looks like an Instagram mom. These are prime suburban and exurban voters who culturally trend toward Trump based on their peer group's inclinations but are swayable.

Not the worst choice. He also looks young, so he makes Harris look a bit more senior and wizened.

They’re a bit Stepford-looking for me. That Southern country club look. I don’t find them relatable.

It's an aspirational look for a lot of white people in the South and Midwest. Yes, Trump generally has that population locked down but there are plenty of persuadables in that group especially among those age 30-50 with kids or trying to start families. The anti-abortion developments have really turned off a lot of white women in the South and Midwest who would otherwise be an easy win for Republicans.

Here's the story, dated today, saying the finalists are Shapiro, Walz, and Kelly. Anyone have a subscription?

That article was published before (11am) the cryptic Tweet by Beshear (12:15pm).

Interesting. I read that unions want Shapiro or Walz, and the progressives want Walz or Beshear. That leaves Kelly as the most moderate in the group. Very curious to see how this goes.

But too green. Better than Vance certainly but he would undermine the inexperience argument they’re focusing on right now.

He's on his second term as KY guv. He won in a red state. Trump lost the popular vote on his successful run and Vance won by a few points. Their collective service is 5 1/2 years. Beshear himself has nearly double the service as a state executive in addition to his 3 years as state AG.

I know Kelly has an incredible background story, but is he telegenic? How is he with the retail politics? Does he get a crowd fired up?

Compared to the others in the running, I feel like he's been as quiet as a mouse.

The cryptic tweet could mean anything. Always possible "sources close to the process" misdirected the Bloomberg journalists, I suppose, but to what end?

It’s got to be a Low T kind of guy.

Three starting NFL quarterbacks joined the Kamala call last night. Joe Burrow (Bengals), Daniel Jones (Giants) and Jared Goff (Lions). The NFL is America’s most watched sport and these athletes have real agency and power with their fans.

Jared Goff, I knew I loved you and those real Lions, not the fake GOP Ly'ins, but now we're not going back!

Do we need two former AGs? I feel like Walz has a far more compelling identity as an educator.

It's also the cryptic tweet is capping off the effort, after being informed he's out. I mean, who knows at this point?

No one cares about that quibble except some nerds inside The Beltway. Jeez. The voters can barely focus on policy debates.

I feel like Harris can't go wrong with any of these picks. They are all qualified and there's something to like about each of them. It's exciting to go from feeling like the Dems had no bench to seeing how many good options there really are.

I think he's not strong in any of these areas, and have been saying from the beginning that lack of union support (hard no on Kelly, they've stated) and the risk of his seat means he's unlikely anyway.

“How often in a hundred days do you get to change the trajectory of the world? How often in a hundred days do you get to do something that’s going to impact generations to come?” Walz asked. “And how often in the world do you make that bastard wake up afterwards and know that a Black woman kicked his a**, sent him on the road?”

Don't like this.

you make not like it, but a lot of GOP men, starting with Trump, took particular glee in the defeat of HRC, a woman who never did anything to them, but her mere existence appeared to threaten their very manhood.
