But the combination of the somber color palette, her hat covering half her face, and her expression is bizarre and hilarious. It will give rise to people claiming it's not really her of course. She always looks dire but the fact that you can't see her eyes at all is so funny to me.

Omg I had thought the pp describing it as a Mary Poppins hat was exaggerating.

She wasn’t.

No one on this thread ever needs to exaggerate these disasters. 😂🤣😂

God, look how OLD Biden and Trump look. They should both be in a nursing home.

I see women's prison warden not Mary Poppins. Even though the had has the white band everything else makes me think she carries a prison baton with her.

I see Hamburgler

She's done this before -- copied someone else's look. I'll go dig it up if nobody else remembers the exact one.

Pretty lame.

PP. She copied Grace Kelly in To Catch a Thief. It's embarrassing.

Who cares? Fashion is always inspired by something. That was a beautiful gown.

Meh. She is a beautiful woman and her hair looks great here, but the dress is weird with that black zig zag which seems pointless and haphazard, and the choker is just bad. I can think of a lot of ways to fix this, it's not totally terrible, but as with her outfit for the swearing in, it's unnecessarily weird in a way that makes no sense.

Do you think she enjoys just making people go "wut" with her clothes? I guess she has to find a way to entertain herself and that's fairly innocuous.

Except for the choker, I think it's very nice. I don't love it and I think more effort could have been made for a memorable Inaugural dress, but she looks good. Really good for her age. She hasn't completely gone to town on her face with plastic surgery.

+1
The choker needs to go, but the dress is interesting and she looks good in it. It’s not what I would have chosen, but she still looks really good.

The neck ribbon reminds me of a creepy children’s story where a woman says not to remove her neck ribbon. The child finally does remove the ribbon from the woman’s neck, and the woman’s head falls off and rolls away.

I thought the same thing. It's weird. Not a huge fan of this dress. She's definitely done beter, but her hair looks nice.

I can't seem to post it.

Her face is the bigger tragedy.

Ivanka’s daughter was adorable and age appropriate in the camel wool outfit. Very cute

Jill looks very cheap, especially with that bedazzled purse.

She always looks cheap. It’s not my cup of tea. I’m more a Carolyn Bessette Kennedy minimalism type. I don’t mind color. It’s just that Jill’s color like bright royal plus and purple instead of plum always look chintzy and cheap…particularly with the brittle blonde hair and bad hairstyle.

That is not the look you can achieve in your 60s.

That sounds Grimm.

Love Melania's dress, sorry, I should stay off this forum.

The entire Trump family looked nice, well dressed and stylish. If you don’t like them as people understandable; but looks/fashion-wise, they did well.

She looked beautiful and the gown was custom. It was daring (for American fashion tbh, Americans are less daring, esp first ladies) and unusual for an inaugural gown. It’s hard to pull off a choker and Melania did. She trended less colonial and more continental today, and it’s disconcerting to some of the hayseeds.

Ivanka followed suit. They both looked fantastic.

The green beret looks like Kate’s on Christmas Day, which looks good on Kate.
Maybe because her hair is down, and less contrast with her hair?

Ivanka looks like a slug.
