More Out of Control Behavior from ACHS students at Bradlee Shopping

Anonymous
All available units had to report to the McDonalds yesterday after school. McDonalds manager said to arrest the students. That goodness no one got stabbed or shot yesterday like last year.

At what point does Bradlee ban ACHS students? I avoid it generally but specifically during lunch and after school.

The McDonalds is a corporate store not a franchisee, at what point does it get shut down?

Cops had to stop two large groups of students who headed to Bradlee to join the fight.

It appears he wants another shooting. But why?

How much truth is there to the rumor that ACHS students have an hour and a half to goof off unsupervised everyday at lunch time. If this is true there is no wonder there is so much violence with 4,000+ students!

I believe it is now a completely closed campus, at least since the new school building opened with its new mega sized cafeteria 20 years ago or so. In Northern Va, only the Arlington high schools still have open campus, at least for upperclassmen. Most Montgomery County high schools still have open campus policies.

Titan Lunch was not re-established for the new year and about a thousand students protested earlier this week because of it.

Yeah. They left and sat in the bleachers for a while. I’m not sure what impact that will make. Central office will do what it’s gonna do, regardless.

Is Titan Lunch the same as the open campus lunch back in the olden days at the old TC campus. The old TC had a very small cafeteria which is why students were allowed to eat off campus.

No. Its an extended lunch period (on campus) in which students can go for extra help and participate in club activities. Its not a bad idea in and of itself—eg, it opens open clubs to kids who have after-school jobs and allows kids who are challenging themselves in difficult classes extra time to consult with teachers—but, as with all things, the size of the school makes it more difficult than it needs to be. What it seems like is that central office is being ultra conservative about it bc of all of the violence last year. So the majority of kids who behave and benefit are being penalized because of the actions of some students. Unfortunate.

How would they ban students though?

I do recall growing up in NOVA that some McDonalds near schools would place signs that stated a time limit students could stay. But other than that, what else is there.

You actually could ban unaccompanied minors from your store or restaurant during lunch/after school hours. You're allowed to discriminate against the young based solely on their age.

Correct. I saw that a new cookie franchise was moving into Bradlee. Do they know that the donut franchise had an ACHS who was shot crawl into their store during a "crew" fight?

But then they will just move on to another store.
Honestly what they should do is plop something down in the parking lot like a drive through Starbucks! what a mess that would be but it would totally eliminate spaces to hang out given how cramped that parking lot would get.

The parking lot is always very busy as it is.

Yes, they will move on to another store. And get banned from that one and the next and the next. Good!

The passive approach as you suggest has been tried. It is no longer working. Hasn't been since the shooting and then the stabbing/murder.
