Schools that are neither "woke" nor conservative?

Anonymous
Are there any schools that are known to be more culturally and politically moderate or neutral... neither "woke" nor super religious or conservative?

It seems like a lot of schools even in Kindergarten are openly very progressive (for example, they'll read board books praising Michelle Obama, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, etc., but you'd never see a book about Laura Bush or Sandra Day O'Connor or some other equivalent figure on "the other side"). I'm looking for more of a straight-forward focus on academics without the pushing of any political ideology.

Does this still exist?

If having a book about RBG is “woke” to you, what you really want is a conservative school even if for
some reason you don’t want to admit it. Whether you agree with her politics and decisions or not, she was a trailblazer in terms of women having a high-powered career and that is noteworthy for little girls. Same is true for Sandra Day O’Connor and I don’t think most schools, other than the ones far on the left, would object to having a book about her as well. I think your “otherside” examples would be pretty unobjectionable to most schools.

No such animal...they are all scared to death of any type of criticism around inclusivity. It's like the scarlet A.

Judging from your question, you’re in NoVa. If that’s the case, any of the schools in that area would probably fit the bill for you (Potomac, Langley, etc). You’d probably find all of the DC privates too “woke” for you, even STA and NCS.

You all make it sound like kids at a "woke" school hires drag queens to read Michelle Obama books to your kids all day, every day. Turn off your fox news and get a life.

My son is in kindergarten at APS and he is not being indoctrinated with "political ideology."

You sound like a nitwit.

If it's not conservative it's woke. This is why one conservative philanthropist decided to shut down his foundation before he died, donating all the money to various causes, rather than let it be captured by liberals.

STA is pretty traditional

It’s very hard to find! Typically schools that avoid being woke swing too far in the other direction. I do not know why it is so hard to be moderate?

Funny take. No doubt as many more conservatives in the private and catholic school worlds in DC and Maryland

Yup, I agree. It’s hard to find moderate schools because fewer and fewer people are actually moderate these days. Schools have got to please somebody and that’s not going to happen by staying in the middle.

100% - moderate, apolitical people do not exist around here - at least not inside the beltway in quantities enough to make it significant. Find a school that is woke enough or conservative enough for you.

Be a parent. Be engaged. Parents are still the biggest influencers if you put your time in. You won't have to worry one way or the other as long as you are involved and available.

Most schools used to be like that. Unfortunately, the people who used to be conservatives started branding previously neutral things as “progressive “. What would a “straightforward focus on academics without the pushing of political ideology “ look like to you, OP? What books would be ok? What topics and values would be off limits?
