Do you think MCPS will close for power outages tomorrow?

Curious what everyone thinks about the power outages from the plane crash in Montgomery Village. We can’t possibly send kids to school without power, right?

If power is restored tonight, we will have school. If not, no school. I guess they’ll make the call at 5 pm?

Probably just individual schools affected- not the entire county.

You won't be happy if MCPS decides to do a virtual learning day tomorrow! Be careful what you wish for...

Why would they do that if the reason for closure is power outages?

Because a lot of us still have power, so it'll be "log on if you have power, you're excused if you don't" scenario. Which means my high school senior will force himself to attend because he's paranoid about missing a minute of class

Isn't that better than no education when people like you complain about the kids being behind.

Ha ha! I've never complained about that I don't care if other kids are behind, mine are doing great. I was just pointing out to virtual-hating posters on DCUM that they mustn't get too excited too soon...

90K without power. That may be widespread enough to cancel for the entire county.

Yes. Is that a problem for you? Parent your kids.

Why wouldn’t only the affected schools close?

This. They would only do schools affected not a system wide closure.
