Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh will not return to Harvard Law School to teach a course that he was previously scheduled to teach in the winter 2019 term.

Harvard Associate Dean Catherine Claypoole wrote in an email to Harvard Law students on Monday evening that the school will not offer the course because Kavanaugh can "no longer commit" to teaching it.

"Today, Judge Kavanaugh indicated that he can no longer commit to teaching his course in January Term 2019, so the course will not be offered," Claypoole wrote, according to the Harvard Crimson.

Kavanaugh was slated to teach a course called "The Supreme Court since 2005."

A group of Harvard Law School students had previously urged the school to stop allowing Kavanaugh to teach there until there was an investigation into accusations of sexual assault made against him.

"Will Harvard Law School take seriously the credible allegation of Kavanaugh’s sexual assault against a young woman before he is allowed to continue teaching young women?" Molly Coleman, Vail Kohnert-Yount, Jake Meiseles and Sejal Singh wrote in The Harvard Law Record. "Or will Harvard allow him to teach students without further inquiry?"

Yeah, his life hasn't been ruined AT ALL. SMH.

Whatever. If three women accused a teacher of assaulting, any school, whether it's an elementary public school or Harvard would want them out. Where's your sympathy for his alleged victims?

With the possible exception of Ford, the "alleged" victims don't have my sympathies because I think they're completely unbelievable and seem to have conveniently come out of the woodwork at an opportune time.

Ramierez has contemporaries backing her story.
The third accuser claims she filed a complaint at the time, Montgomery County said it would take a month to find it. Conveniently, the Judge's mother was the lead prosecutor for teen delinquency in Montgomery County at the time.

I withhold full judgement on these until the facts are borne out.

She says she filed a report. We have no way to know if it is actually true. My bet is that it isn’t.
The police officer she spoke to is no longer alive.

Well, let's see if the County can find the report.

Kavanaugh should take a polygraph, just like Ford did.

You don't think Ramirez is believable after it's been revealed that Kavanaugh sought to pre-emptively bury her story?

Is there actual, verifiable proof of this, or is it simply more breathless speculation?

It's straw grasping. Kavanaugh is literally quoted responding in the Deborah Ramirez New Yorker article (quote below). I'm not sure what the scandal is that Kavanaugh admitted he'd heard Ramirez was hitting up their mutual friends for dirt to give to the press and Kavanaugh wanted to get in front of it. Unless there's evidence he was directing people to lie to Senate investigators or the FBI, this is just more desperation.

In a statement, Kavanaugh wrote, “This alleged event from 35 years ago did not happen. The people who knew me then know that this did not happen, and have said so. This is a smear, plain and simple. I look forward to testifying on Thursday about the truth, and defending my good name—and the reputation for character and integrity I have spent a lifetime building—against these last-minute allegations.”

So Kavanaugh and the GOP knew of the Ramierz allegation since July and has been covering it up. Isn't that the same thing, or worse, than what the right is suggesting about Diane Feinstein?

But it isn't straw grasping. Kavanaugh and the GOP knew of this allegation since at least July and sought to bury it. When asked about it, Kavanaugh claimed the first he heard of it was in September, when the New Yorker came out with it. That was an outright lie.

When asked, Kavanaugh told committee staff Sept. 25th he was “probably” at a wedding with Ramirez. “I am sure I saw her because it wasn’t a huge wedding,” but “doesn’t have a specific recollection.” Texts show his team had the photo, from a friend, at least since Sept. 22

Is there ANYTHING he won’t lie about or try to talk around? Are we even sure his name is Brett?

Seems as if the liberals here are desperately looking for something. You see that all the ridiculous allegations of sexual assault are falling apart.
So, you go for another “nail in the coffin.”
“He has a drinking problem!!” Sure, and the FBI missed it in 6 background investigations.
“He has a temper!” Sure. He was defending himself from heinous accusations, and you want him to be calm like this was a job interview.
“He committed perjury!“ Good luck with that. So far, nothing you have thrown out as “perjury” holds water.

Face it - you are desperate to derail his nomination. When Schumer says, “We will do whatever it takes,” he’s not kidding. I never thought you’d sink this low.

Anonymous wrote:I referred to this article on the previous thread. It’s illuminating - all of the assertions Kavanaugh presented in his testimony dissected. And what does it reveal? It reveals his obfuscation and in several cases, lies.

Of course, Kavanaugh defenders are willing to ignore this but it should trouble all of us. We deserve a SCJ who is not just unbiased (Kavanaugh showed he is anything but) but who stands for the truth.

Dissected? No. The guy who wrote this article was never a Kavanaugh supporter. He makes assumptions and presents an extremely biased argument based on his own opinions.
It’s sad that this is what passes for “journalism” these days.

I disagree. I observed all the same indications in Kavanaugh's testimony that he is lying.

I'd love to hear from a retired investigator who is used to interviewing people and what they observe in that testimony.

I posted yesterday that on a twitter rec I downloaded the book Spot the Lie, written by 3 former CIA interrogators. I'm halfway through and no expert, but he lied both with his body, his words, evading questions, dodging questions, trying to tap in to people's biases (and we all have them). He pretty much hit them all. He also straight out lied which apparently is uncommon.

I posted this yesterday but it is still so true, and I think most of us would recognize it since we are parents:

Me: Did you eat your brother's cookie?
DS: Let me tell you about all the homework I have done...

This is exactly what he did.

He would fail a polygraph. That’s why he won’t take one. This is obvious to anyone but a Kavanaugh/GOP/Trump supporter.

That’s pretty bad. They were both in the wedding party. He was one of the groomsman and she was one of the bridesmaids. Kavanaugh again is attempting to distance and deny.

Sure. Give him two meaningless questions. And cross out anything that might trip him up.

When exactly was this wedding?

He testified under oath that he became aware of the Ramirez allegation when the New Yorker story came out on September 23. Text messages show he was preparing a defense to those allegations in July.
