GZ would beat the piss out of STA and EHS and will likely make their games against GC and SJC very competitive. Its not like they are getting dominated in their games this year, they have lost to some very good programs and have played a gauntlet. |
DB comment of the day |
Didn't GP start that way last year. Beat GZ in OT (definitely by a goal) and went from there. Playing DJO tomorrow will certainly help. |
| GP started 2-6 last year. The difference is they played mostly close games and had good players. |
| is King on the hot-seat? |
GP starting this year under Hilgartner pretty much the same as last year under Urick. So is it the coach or the players? |
|
Prep has some big games with down in Florida against Saint Andrews (Boca) and Loyola from LA.
Hilgartner is playing a big boy schedule, unlike some of their IAC foes. |
First of all the schedule was set up before Hilgartner as most schedules are set at least a year out. He does have play it though. Hard to go to Florida and not play St. Andrews so it’s not like GP is seeking a challenge. The IAC is weak and GP avoided the heaviest hitters like Malvern and the any team in the Founder’s League teams. |

Why play any team from the New England West league these days.
Reclass and double reclass kids The average age on the roster are 18 - -20 year old adults. |
Because quality HS teams and players want to challenge themselves against the best, regardless of age. Take your reclass whining to the middle school forum where it has some merit. |
Typical ignorant statement. St. Anthony's, the premier traditional high school lax program in the country, cancelled their scrimmage against Deerfield the day before when they found out just how many 5th years they were going to play against. |
That’s total BS. Besides there’s plenty of reclasses and summer babies in the DMV. One way or another you will have to play against them. |
|
Ok - so because St. Anthony’s is soft, everyone should be?
There are always a couple of exceptions, but for the most part, most 19 and 20 year olds still playing high school are still playing high school because they’re not that great. To be scared to play them is sad. Those 19 and 20 year olds are no more full grown than the 18 year olds on any other varsity team. It’s not like middle school where you do get the huge size and athleticism disparities between pre and post pubescent kids of different ages. |
Couldn’t agree more. Kids don’t reclass for high school because they’re at the top of their game. Those kids are asked to reclass because of academics, size, or lax development. The assumption that reclassing confers some magical power to a kid that makes him more competitive is a delusion. If you’re good, colleges would prefer a student takes a PG year to protect eligibility. I see tons of reclasses out there that don’t elevate their game but rather fall down to the class they drop down to. Success is simple: innate ability+physical attributes+coachability+dedication/drive to be the best. |
The utter lack of self awareness in that prior post is really impressive. Does s/he really think there's no 19 yr old seniors anywhere in the DMV? I'd assumed no one could be THAT dense but I guess I'm way off. |
