So, you do not understand that the boundary study is suggesting to send more of Chantilly High on a thirty minute drive to Oakton? and, sending some who are south of 50 to Westfield? You think that is okay? |
What is wrong with you? I suggested some sort of academy like a TJ2 would be another option to decrease enrollment at all of the schools in the area. I think it's a given the proposed maps are out the window after this acquisition. |
It would have little effect on schools in this area. School Board changed the rules resulting in fewer kids from Chantilly going to TJ. Unlikely to change back |
+2. TJ is far for the western part of Fairfax. When they talk about equitable access to programming, this is one of the starkest inequities. |
The most run down high schools are all in eastern Fairfax so cry me a river. |
What a petty response. Regardless, equitable access is in the new boundary policy, so I’m guessing that’s what Dunne and Frisch are keying off of. |
It’s even greedier to be asking for a TJ West when the neighborhoods near Carson have been waiting decades for their own HS. |
I mean they could do something like the eastern half of the county is encouraged to apply to TJ1 and they take 3% instead of 1.5%, and the western half is encouraged to apply at TJ2, taking 3%. Through an "equity" lens, it would benefit the entire county. |
This isn’t remotely aligned with FCPS priorities. |
Which are those? |
No. Just no. |
Tj west is a dumb idea, but many neighborhoods in the county don't have a neighborhood HS |
| I mean to be fair none of the kids who go to Westfield have a neighborhood HS. Its in an industrial site not a residential area. |
If you think equitable access to programming is greedy, then you need to take that up with Frisch, Dunne, and the rest of the school board. They are the ones that wrote the policy. it’s about an hour between KAA and TJ. Likely many kids in that area don’t apply to TJ because of the inequity. |
Lots of kids with severe disabilities travel hours one way to access programming. Life isn't fair. |
