1. Landon (best win 15-7 over #22 Benjamin; only loss was OT to #17 Haverford)

Bullis, GP, and GZ all get upcoming shots at dethroning the Bears.

Drop off to Tier II.
2. Bullis (best win: 13-10 over STAB)
3. GP-GZ-SJC (GP's best win 8-7 over GZ; GZ (no signature win yet but dropped 3 one goal games to tough teams); SJC's best win is 11-6 over Taft).

Steep drop off to Tier III.
6. Episcopal (best win: 9-7 over PVI)
7. PVI (best win: 13-3 over Heights)

Tier IV.
8. Dematha (best win: 12-8 over Severn, plus two 1-goal losses to Bullis and St. Mary's)
9. Heights (best win: 12-6 over St. Mary's Ryken)
10. St. Mary's Ryken (best win: 7-6 over Dematha)

Tier V.
11. OLGC
12. St. Alban's

13-20. The Field

The rankings check out.

1. Landon's best win comes against Benjamin over Spring Break (16-1, who also beat McDonogh), Saint Andrews FL (11-5), and MSJ (6-2)earlier in the season. MSJ historically is towards the bottom of the MIAA but is having their best season in a very long time.
2. Bullis' best win is back in week 1 against STAB (STAB lost to Blue Ridge Academy yesterday who is a program on the rise) and Episcopal Academy (2-2) out of Philly. Bullis also has quality wins against WCAC perennial power Gonzaga and DeMatha (first game of season)
3. SJC best wins came against Taft (2-3) Severn (3-4) and Ryken (5-3). Ryken, similar to MSJ is having its best season in a long time.
4. Gonzaga top wins came out West against traditional Cali powers La Costa Canyon (5-4) and Torrey Pines (6-4)
5. Prep best win this year came on Tuesday night against Jesuit rival Gonzaga and back in week one against Saint Mary's Annapolis (3-5). Despite the Saints record, they are getting better under first year HC

If you want to rank teams based purely on quality wins, I'd rank them as the following

1. Bullis (STAB, Episcopal Academy, GZ, DM)
2. Landon (Benjamin, MSJ, Saint Andrews FL)
3. SJC (Taft, Severn, Ryken)
4. Prep (GZ, Saint Mary's Annapolis)
5. GZ (La Costa Canyon, Torrey Pines)

If you want to incorporate subjective analysis, factor in the quality of opponents, the total number of losses, and the type of loss (did you get dominated, or did you lose in overtime )... I'd rank the teams in this order.

1. Bullis
2. Landon
3. SJC
4. GZ
5. Prep (GP has some bad losses and plays inconsistently)
Honorable Mention: (In order)
DeMatha
Episcopal

The good news is that these rankings will become clear over the next 3 weeks as league play kicks in both the WCAC and IAC. Enjoy!

Bullis has played just a lay-down schedule this year. Gonzaga, Stab, EA, Landon and Prep. That’s the competitive part of their schedule. If you want to throw in Dematha, go ahead. 6 games max are challenging. That’s not how a top tier program should challenge themselves in particular when you have so many high end recruits.

You must have an axe to grind. Bullis has played a lay-down schedule relative to who? The Bulldogs' schedule is fine for this Spring.

STAB is an excellent up-and-coming program and EA up in Philly is always competitive. You forgot to mention Bullis played Spalding and St Pauls from the MIAA. They play Gonzaga and DeMatha every year from the WCAC, as they are local rivals. And of course, they have IAC league play where they square off against rivals GP and Landon 2x.

Just remember, it takes two to tango. I guarantee you Bellistri reached out to other teams from the WCAC and MIAA, but they said "no thanks" or the dates didn't match up.

Thanks for compiling this..... its fair and unbiased.

Is Torrey Pines that good this year on the West Coast? They are 6-4.

How good is STAB this year? They lost to Blue Ridge yesterday.

STAB is very solid. Nic Bell's recruiting is already starting to pay off. In the DMV, they would legitimately be in the conversation for top 3.

The Blue Ridge loss is surprising, but Blue Ridge has started recruiting lots Canadians and tends to get better as the season goes. Blue Ridge beat them in the VISAA final last year too. Maybe STAB just doesn't match up well with them.
Anonymous
Blue Ridge will quickly turn into a reclass lax factory. Academically it’s very easy to get into. And yes they are well known to import Canadians.

2nd year coach down is doing a good job. He won the VISAA last year as a first year HC. Beat EHS, PVI, and STAB in the playoffs.
He must have known he was going to have a good squad this year given he scheduled Landon and Lawerancville

Games today to track and keep an eye on:

Bullis at Episcopal: result of this game will tell us just how good Episcopal is this year or is just noise from the Mad Lax hype machine. Bullis has found their mojo since the victory over Gonzaga.

Prediction: Bullis 14, EHS 6

GC at PVI: The Falcons need a marquee win on their resume. This game will give us an indication if they are WCAC contenders or pretenders. PVI's victory over Blue Ridge looks impressive now.

Prediction: PVI 10, GC 8

DeMatha vs LaSalle: Don't be fooled by LaSalle's 0-3 record, they are a great program out of Philly and play a tough non-league schedule. I believe this game is played at USA Lacrosse facility in Sparks MD to honor the servicemen and women who made the ultimate sacrifice. Great cause and Go Stags!

Prediction: LaSalle 9, DM 8

Blue Ridge and Christ Church seem to have found a niche for attracting 3 star caliber Canadian talent.

Sorry didn't see those, but fair enough. I guess the St. Peter&Paul, Urbana, Cape Henlopen, Delmar and John Carroll games had my mind warped thinking Bullis didn't play a competitive schedule. 7 of 19 games...got the standard now for all you defenders of this. Clearly you don't remember how JB used to schedule.

1. Bullis (STAB, Episcopal Academy, GZ, DM)
2. Landon (Benjamin, MSJ, Saint Andrews FL)
3. SJC (Taft, Severn, Ryken)
4. Prep (GZ, Saint Mary's Annapolis)
5. GZ (La Costa Canyon, Torrey Pines)

If you want to incorporate subjective analysis, factor in the quality of opponents, the total number of losses, and the type of loss (did you get dominated, or did you lose in overtime )... I'd rank the teams in this order.

1. Bullis
2. Landon
3. SJC
4. GZ
5. Prep (GP has some bad losses and plays inconsistently)
Honorable Mention: (In order)
DeMatha
Episcopal

The good news is that these rankings will become clear over the next 3 weeks as league play kicks in both the WCAC and IAC. Enjoy!

Thank you and finally someone who doesn’t appear to have a bias compile rankings that make sense for now .

Forgot Spalding & St. Paul’s dummy

It went like this…”my team’s not that good any longer and I don’t have the talent, therefore we’re not getting embarrassed by any dmv teams that we don’t have to play this year. Thanks but no thanks.”
