SSFS HOS leaving

Didn’t you read? They posted it and it was taken down. Your beef should be with DCUM, not the poster who has already given important information.

I don't have a beef. Just repost and see what happens.

Are we still talking about the typo?

No, there were a bunch of new posts that were deleted very quickly.

About what?

Unsubstantiated (as of yet) gossip. If it turns out to be true, I'll post it here, but if I post now, I suspect this post will be removed.

It wasn’t gossip. The post had too many details and multiple post were removed. Gossip is all over this forum and that wasn’t it.

Hopefully this won’t be removed since I’m specifying what the rumor was, not that it’s true-it was that interim head was going to be leaving and a new one starting soon.

As a parent of a student who is near the end of their SSFS time, I appreciate your posts. I do have to wonder if the board is trying to kill the school, because if this is true, it's just a terrible, terrible look - right after the big open house, and just when it seemed like things are settling down.

This is a bad take - I can assure you that the current board is not trying to kill the school. I know many of them personally and they are devoted to the school and to its long term success and well being.

They are probably devoted but many of them are largely underwhelming and ineffective, and the School will suffer the consequences for a few years.

This board isn’t doing themselves any favors if they are indeed removing the interim head now. And I want the school to succeed, I just happen to think that the way to make that happen is to not have turnover at the top every 5 months. I really hope this news is just a rumor.

That’s also an unfair characterization, and suggests that you don’t understand Quaker process at all. The school is already suffering the consequences of 4 years of RG, they’re doing what they can to clean up the mess. (That most of them didn’t have a hand in creating.)

Does an understanding of Quaker process require that we agree with your assessment of the board members? Having met some of them, I am just mystified that this is who is tapped for governance of a school that operates at this price point, especially when contrasted with the boards for independent schools in our area.

I think understanding Quaker process would help dispel the view that they are ineffective. It would also help you understand why certain people are on the Board - and that it isn’t just a panel of random people who bought their seats, like other schools in the area.

It’s a pity what’s happening with leadership. We were at the open house this weekend and the school seems really nice with a great curriculum. You could tell many of the teachers are very dedicated and passionate about the kids and teaching from the way they talked about their classes and how kids learn. The place was packed so hopefully leadership can get their stuff together. We really liked what we saw.

This thread should be locked down. 74 pages in and people are just trashing the school.

Where are you seeing that ppl are just trashing the school? Literally the recent posts are just hoping nothing more bad happens and the school does better.

I went to the open house and was extremely impressed! Beautiful grounds, what seemed like dedicated teachers and the students looked so happy. Thinking of enrolling my kid here, just need to make sure and see a few more schools. Confused why anyone would find what i saw this past weekend to be a problem.

This just isn’t true. I understand Quaker process on a personal and studied level. That can’t explain away poor management and bad judgement, even if the board is well intentioned. They’re clearly damaging the school despite all the good.
