Is the jury deliberating their sentencing recommendation?

Yes.

From that link:

'Shahid took the stand last, telling the courtroom tearfully that he was deeply sorry for his actions and the pain he caused the victims.

"He said he was in “full regret with the actions he’s done.”"

Sure.
Crocodile tears that say " I could have cared less about the girls at the time, but I don't want to go to jail".
Not working for him.

From the same source:
Prosecutors told jurors that they had spoken with the victims’ families, who “all agree he doesn’t need to be sentenced to the max” and recommended a sentence that’s “enough time to be a measurement of the crime he committed, but not to match the pain because that sentence would be infinite.”

Yes, that's what he's supposed to say. But not every defendant is able to express any remorse. Shahid is.

Suddenly he has remorse. So a liar and a criminal.

That's good of him. I believe he should pay for his actions but also appreciate that he victims families could see his remorse. His "supporters" on here never once mentioned his remorse, just made excuses and played pity card.

No one is buying it. Or you.

One night in jail so far has probably scared the shiz out of him.

I guess his family told him our advice.

Anonymous wrote:How will this whole process affect Usman’future? Let’s face it, I’m not saying what he did was right or I’m not trying to ignore the fact that two young girls lost their lives, but he was being stupid. Unfortunately the consequences of his stupidity were the absolute worst that could’ve happened.
Now his life is going to be ruined. I’m sure he is very psychologically affected by this. I can’t imagine this is easy on him or his family. We’ve all done stupid things in our life. We all want forgiveness.

Who cares? Don’t you think he ruined the futures of 2 girls and their families? Dumb decisions result in consequences. And no most of us haven’t engaged in reckless speeding outside a high school and killed 2 pedestrians. At least he has a future to even be concerned about. A decade seems fair. He can still make a future in his 30s, but this absolutely deserves a stiff punishment.

10 years is the max per charge? So 20 years total? Or 5 years per count? Maximum punishment should be necessary. Why do we not have mandatory minimums? This POS deserves to rot.
