If parents have an issue with what books their children read, then perhaps they should be proactive parents and monitor what their children read. Not all parents object to these books, so why are their views not being considered?

Kennedy can flap his gums all he wants as well. However, it would be mean much more if he flapped his guns and expressed outrage and kids being shot in schools.

And, since tax dollars fund the purchase of books, we do indeed get a say in books available to students.
Purchase the classics. Purchase appropriate literature. Leave the smut for parents to purchase for their own children.
And, sorry - we have seen over the past 3 years that blind trust in professionals is naive.

Thank you. I am absolutely mystified by supposed parents who believe that books like Gender Queer and All Boys Aren't Blue should be available in school libraries. I truly cannot understand it. I would really think long and hard about allowing my children to associate with children of parents who have these views.
