COGAT Scores

The COGAT scores have been released. Does anyone know what the automatic referral minimum score is for COGAT? And is it the VQN total number that is used? TIA!

This varies by school and many AARTs either don't know or won't tell you the cut-off. You just have to wait and see if you get an in-pool notification.

There is no automatic referral minimum score. All the numbers including the sub-scores and the composite score are used.

Got it. Do you know if that letter comes before the 12/14 due date? I assume that it won't come that quickly so will just get all of the paperwork ready for the application. I just wish there were more clarity here.

Probably won't come before so you should do the referral. Even if you are in pool, you should do the referral. If you are on the cusp--which I am guessing ot be the case if you are sking about cutoffs, you should definitely do the referral. To conclude, do the referral.

If you're at a high-SES school, the in-pool cut-off will probably be high-130s or 140. Middle of the road school, low 130s. Title I school, probably in the 120s.

Which is absurd. If that's the case, then the schools need to provide Cogat prep classes in 2nd grade. SMH

How important is the non-verbal score?

Probably not as critical as math and verbal, especially since it's repetitive of the NNAT.

Yeah, but tons of kids who aren’t in-pool still get admitted. The GBRS is probably more important than COGAT scores anyway.

Now, that is certainly the case. And the kids who struggle in the rigorous LLIV programs and the kids who breeze through the non-rigorous LLIV programs are the result of that.
