Who here has a 6 pack now but has never had one before?

Once you are there, how easy is it to maintain?

Largely depend on genetics and where and how you carry your fat.

Overall though I would say I know few women who have legit 6 packs and the ones I do know that have them work out a lot and have very strict diets.

I never had one when I was a teenager or in my 20s, but I do now.

That's how I know it's not genetics. It's all diet.

How very…unscientific of you.

I should clarify that when I said it was based on genetics above I meant more in terms of how you store fat.
Some women will have a 6 pack at a higher % body fat than others. But yes, getting to a body fat % that allows your 6 pack to been seen is very much diet dependent.

Is low carb what works for you? I’ve seen vegans who eat plenty of fruit have low body fat.

Same. I eat very little processed sugar now which seems to be the trick for me. I also run a lot, but the six pack is from yoga.

I always heard abs were made in the kitchen, but even once I hit a low body fat %, it was doing some ab work that got them visible.

I do planks and use an ab wheel, as well as peloton.

I wonder if she understands what genetic means.

When I was in 9th grade I made friends with a very weird girl - it was a short-lived friendship. However, she told me that she did crunches and pushups alternating each day, and I thought that was brilliant and started doing that too. By the start of summer I had a six pack. It only went away while I was pregnant and post-partum.

Basically, as long as I keep working out, it stays, even on vacations. If you stop working out, it's gone in two weeks.

DH is 42 now hasn't had one was 18.

A majority of it is body fat %. He is down in the 14% range now. The 6 pack combined with the PV is definitely a nice treat.

I've cut sugar and processed foods out of my diet completely - 8 weeks ago. I also started serious weight training 8 weeks ago - although I have always worked out.

I have a 3 pack which is astonishing considering my age.
