| Is there any precedent for a country at war applying to join nato? |
|
He can demand all he wants. It will never happen (and wasn't ever going to happen).
If Putin uses his "annexation" as his win and then slows down, Zelensky will quickly wear out his welcome in the west. |
|
What choice does he have?
Russia illegally annexed 15% of his country using farcical election results involving Russian soldiers literally holding guns to Ukrainians’ heads. Ironically, Putin is driving Ukraine to seek shelter from NATO following his ludicrous allegations of the NATO military defense alliance Representing a war machine that justified his empire lust driven war crimes. |
God have mercy on the souls of the innocents - Russia has so much blood on its hands - the war crimes/ senseless acts of terror are beyond comprehension. https://apple.news/A0svHIEENTrWOj7l8dS3Row |
Last year, Ukrainians would never join NATO, they didn't want to. Even just a few months ago they wanted NATO's guns and money but not to join. Putin is amazing. He has changed the minds of millions of people in Ukraine, Sweden, and Finland, all of whom opposed joining NATO just a short time ago. |
Ironic in the worst way. Yes Putin is driving them all into the arms of NATO Putin is our generation’s Hitler but more cunning. He has China and India deluded that they will be part of his new Asian world order led by him. |

What possible benefit to the current NATO members is it for Ukraine, a country embroiled in a war, to join NATO?
Why would want to end up in a mutual defense pact with a country with an ongoing military invasion? |
|
NATO membership requires resolved borders.
I read Zalensky’s NATO application as an acknowledgment that Kyiv is willing to sacrifice the annexed lands to Russia n exchange for NATO membership. |
It has happened in everything but name. NATO is all in and at the first opportunity will make an agreement for security of Ukraine. When NATO does this other states around Russia will break off. |
Interesting But since Ukraine and West are not recognizing the annexations as legal, don’t you think they could challenge those new illegal borders? |
Russia does represent a threat to entire world as an unstable, amoral nuclear super power. |
NP. Yes, but in any case, Ukraine is going to sacrifice the annexed lands. Zelensky is the president of a democratic country not dictatorship. Ukrainians overwhelming want to fight to liberate the rest of their country, so that's what they will continue to do. Besides, Ukraine is starting to win this war, and they are also uncovering unspeakable acts of barbarism committed by the Russians in liberated territory. Why in the world would they want to stop now? It makes zero sense. |
That’s all but openly declared war. |
| Given that the ONLY reason for Ukraine's success on the battlefield is due to the financial and material support from the United States and other western Allies, what more does Zelensky want? |
No, it's the United States winning this war . If it wasn't for us propping up Zelensky and his military, Ukraine would have surrendered months ago. |
