| Just got my lipid profile results back, and my LDL is a bit high. I've read all the articles about what foods theoretically lower LDL, I'm curious about personal stories of what foods you found actually worked for you. Also open to experiences in *raising* HDL. Thank you! |
| Best options are Metamucil and oatmeal. Mine is also on the high side. |

+ 1
Psyllium husk (Metamucil is made from it), a fiber called Inulin (don't confuse it with Insulin ) and oatmeal to lower bad cholesterol.
Walnuts and hemp hearts to increase good cholesterol, and change the ratio between good and bad cholesterol. Vitamin K2 MK7 to reduce bad cholesterol, and remove calcification from arteries. Therapeutic dose is 300 mcg per day for a month. Then you can drop to 100 mcg. You can avoid statins if you start on K2 MK7. It is different from Vitamin K, K2 and K2 MK4. So don't confuse MK7 with these. |
A month of K2 MK7 will see a dramatic and significant change in your cholesterol profile. Also add D3 and Magnesium supplement. One month fixes it. The best part is that it also increases the good cholesterol, so your ratio improves. Nothing else works as good as this. |
Never heard of this. Can I buy online, the MK7? |
following |
I ordered some on amazon. Going to do some more reaearch. The amazon reviews say it diverts calcium from arteries and helps with receding gums |
can you post the link of what you ordered? anything that also has D3? |
Lose weight eat more plants. |
Ironically k2 comes from dairy, animal products, and fermented foods (so that last can be plants) |
| I had high LDL at my last physical and I added daily oatmeal and whey to my diet (in a green smoothie). This was recommended by Mayo Clinic website. I already exercised a lot and normal weight. I am also diligent about eating enough fruit and vegetables. Will be going back for yearly physical so we shall see if my LDL has lowered. I could have done better eliminating all red meat and dairy, but I continue to consume those things occasionally. I want to check out that vitamin. Never heard about it. |
If you're a member of Costco, they carry Vitamin K2 only online though |
How did you learn about this? Trying to help DH so any info is appreciated! |
| My good cholesterol is super high from eating tons of organic olive oil. I only use olive oil unless I'm frying eggs or something wannabe Asian, then I use avocado oil. |
Family member had a heart attack and had multiple stents put. He had calcification and plaque in arteries. I researched a lot and read NIH publications about it and found that there are multiple studies where it has also helped with reversing or slowing hardening of arteries, kidney health, osteoporosis and cholestrol reduction. Started on it myself too since nothing changes my ratio of good vs bad cholestrol. NIH study was with 360mcg of K2 MK7, but I supplemented with 300 mcg. In a month, it was a dramatic change and other things also improved. Now everyone above 40 in my family takes this. I would suggest MK7 even if you are taking statins and are not willing to leave the statins. Also, if you are taking statins please also take COQ10. BTW, K, K2, K2 MK4 and K2 MK7 behave very differently. Mk7 is safe even with blood thinners where as Vitamin K can cause clots, so, only use K2 MK7 I but from Amazon. Now and Jarrows make good formulas. If you are not interested in supplements, you can eat Japanese natto instead. |
