| Can it be done?. And what’s the process for that? |
| If you can fit in all the required credits, sure. However, I'm not sure you can fit them all in 3 years. |
| What's the goal for that fourth year? |
| A student needs 4 years of English and Math to graduate. If they took those courses over the summer, I suppose they could graduate in 3 years. There is also a minimum number of electives needed, but not sure how many. |
Yes. Take Algebra 1 by 8th grade. Take either the Health or Tech credit in Sumer after 9th or 10th, then double up English 11 and 12 in 11th grade. Or take English 12 summer after 11th and graduate in summer. Most students have more credits than they need to graduate by end of Junior year. English 12 is the last thing they need. One option some take is dual enrollment at MC during 12th grade. They can be either part time or full time at MC, but still participate with their HS for sports, clubs, and traditional senior year events. |
Yes, I know someone who did this. English in summer school. You can get a 4th math in 3 years if you take Quant Lit or Statistics at the same time as Calc or pre-calc. |
| the only class most kids need to take their senior year is English. They should have already met the requirements. |
Need 4 years of math now too. |
No, taking Algebra 1 by 8th grade doesn't help. You still have to take 4 years of High school math. |
| Technically, to graduate, you need 4 credits of HS math and you must be "enrolled in a math course in each year of HS." So, if you have 4 credits at Algebra or higher, and you are in HS for only 3 years, I think that would qualify. |
| Yes, my friend’s daughter is doing it this year. Not sure how, but she is. |
Cool. Do you know what her plans are after early graduation? |
I came here I say this. State of Maryland requires 4 credits of math to graduate. They added that you must also be enrolled in a math class each year of high school. You can graduate early, as long as you have the 4 credits of HS math. Current standard pathway is Algebra 1 in 8th grade. If a student doesn’t pass that, they would need to take math in summer school to get a 4th credit done by 11th grade. |

If your student graduates early make sure they know about the Maryland early graduation scholarship!

| Yes it can be done. And, some colleges have an early admissions program for those who finish early (U of Southern CA has one). |
