There is an awful lot of space between trade schools and competitive colleges.

Early graduation, 2 years at Montgomery College, and then guaranteed transfer to UMD-CP? That is an excellent financial deal for students who want to save money and work in high demand fields in our community.

Doesn’t make sense, you don’t need to graduate HS early to go the MC -> UMD route

Agree with this. There are very few students who will benefit academically from one fewer year of skill development.

Even genius kids who race through high school/college/grad school then face employment hurdles because no one wants to hire a 23 year old professor to teach 19 year olds. Calm down people. Life is not a race.

Not everyone has to (or wants to) follow the same, typical UMC pathway to college and career. There are plenty of lower income students and families who are more than happy to accelerate their path to a BS or BA degree while saving money by living at home. Getting a good paying job in the county a year earlier can be a huge deal for some families.

This is generalizing, but generally, those lower income students could use more academic development to ensure that they actually succeed in getting their BA/BS degrees. The number of MCPS students needing remediation, even to study at MC is quite large. Take the four years in high school, and if you really are that well prepared, you can finish a Bachelor's in three years. But most aren't that well prepared, even if they've "earned credits."
