This MAGA certainly seems reasonable (broken clock theory right again)

JD agrees with all of it, as does Donald when you consider that he hasn’t bothered to say anything.

People are offended because the "jokes" were told at an official political rally for a presidential candidate. The comments were offensive, not funny.

It was not a “joke”. It was a racist tirade.

Jon Stewart thinks the guy is funny fwiw https://x.com/piersmorgan/status/1851230925448696003?s=46&t=vCkHaGKqgGqkHvzMN6JuFg

He’s had roast jokes that are funny. I hate Trump and I can even admit that - and that’s all Stewart was saying when you actually watch the show. Doesn’t mean having him at a political rally was in any way a good idea.

Yes, the entire point was even if you think this guy is funny at a celebrity roast, he is not someone you hire for a campaign event.

Of course it wasn’t a good idea. It was a terrible idea but come on the outrage is ridiculous and predictably used as a political baseball bat by the dems and I don’t blame them. The cnn/msnbc journalists performance act is over the top.

If they can't even use good judgment to decide on what speakers to have at a campaign event, why would I want them making decisions about this country?.

That’s a fair point. To each his/her own and let’s hope for the best next Wednesday morning no matter what side you are on.

Or something that gets a few lefty news outlets riled up for a couple of days before they move on to the next thing.

We’re a week out from the election, not a month. And early voting is happening in many swing states. It only takes few days or people heading to vote early while angry. The margins are really tight. It’s not swinging millions of voters. 30,000 angry PRs heading to early vote yesterday and today in PA may be all we need.

This. The PA electors were decided by less than 100,000 votes in 2020.

Also even if you think what happened at MSG is fine, Trump's own campaign knows they screwed up. They NEVER apologize and they've not only apologized but distanced themselves from the comedian. That tells you all you need to know about what a mistake this was.

And yet still in trump form HE is not denouncing even when pressed, as he does in fact think all these things

He’s not going to apologize. His campaign vetted it and told the comedian he could call Harris a c*nt. That’s where they drew the line.

The problem for Trump is that no one thinks he DOESN'T think PR is a garbage pile. He withheld aid, he talked about trading it for another country. We know he thinks about PR as much as he thinks about the women he sexually assaulted - which is to say not at all. So a joke like this crystalizes a problem that Trump already has but no one has yet been able to clarify so strongly - and now there is a clarifying point that of course people are paying attention to.

YES EXACTLY

I almost wish he had. I want it to be fully clear who they are voting for and it will sway more voters towards picking intelligence and decency.

Exactly this. It brings to the forefront the fact that Trump (and MAGA) has disdain for certain people and couldn’t care less about helping them when they need it. Once he has their votes he acts like they don’t exist. It reminds everyone of how he handled Maria, and how he handled COVID. When people in PR needed help he ignored and even worse insulted them. Same thing when people in blue cities needed help in 2020.

He DOES NOT CARE about any of these groups he’s trying to court now, other than billionaires who can help him. They are a means to an end and nothing more.

Whatever happened to civility? Forget the political ramifications of insulting a particular ethnic group. MAGA claims to want to return to 1950's America, but this kind of language and vulgarity would have been unheard of in those days.

You don't get to tell the victims of a racist statement that they don't get to be offended. You also don't get to tell people who care about the victims of the racist statement to not feel offended.
