Whatever DNA you have, it doesn't make you a high lever citizen. |
Again the broken English. Again, the mentally unstable responses. I doubt you are a US citizen. |
You must be a 90 years old bigot. |
No I is not…hope you understand as write in your speak |
You is an old bigot who has never been outside of the country and has never learned to speak and write in another language." |
They will move more towards economic aspects, which will achieve 80% of what they want, as over 50% of low income families in the US are black and latino. Ultimately what the T20 want (and many schools want) is to increase first gen students and lower income students to give them the opportunities in life. Still plenty of legal ways to do that without AA. They will also just keep their final choices more nuanced....nobody is going to inspect yearly how schools provide admission. Yes, plenty of top Asians will still get denied, along with whites, blacks, latinos, and other groups. Because majority of students will get rejected. |
Then you don't use them as references, just like you only use teachers who like you and will give you a rave recommendation. Whomever you select to do your LOR, you are trusting they will give excellent ones. But someone else with good scores and good GPA may get a stellar recommendation that tips the admission choice to them. that is how life and the college admission process works. I cannot imagine suing because my kid did not get into a college (and my kids are asian). also cannot imagine suing because I didn't get along with someone on my team at a job---I would simply search for a new position within or at a new company. I don't sue a company because someone got a promotion over me, and likely got it because they are best friends with a higher up or their parents know upper management, etc. I recognize that while I have plenty of excellent connections in life and am privileged, that there are plenty more people who have even more privilege and connections. |
This^^^. The entire process can be ambiguous and universities will still accomplish what they desire. Fact is they do not have to supply admission criteria/data points for review. They will just ensure anything written down is "non discriminatory" Easy to do when most use 25-30 data points for deciding and only a few are cut and dry, and even then they are allowed to value a 1500 over a 1580 if the 1500 kid comes from an underprivileged environment. |
Most are simply stating, that there are univesrities around the world that provide admission based solely on gpa/test scores and those complaining are free to use those systems, since they are "so much better". Go spend 4 years getting your degree in china or India or Europe if those schools are "so much better due to their admission system". |
Non-lawyers cavalierly throw around words like “discrimination.” Discrimination under the law is a technical thing. Most yappers on here have no idea what they’re talking about. They’re just stirring the pot. |
It's hard to do things ambiguously when you receive 50K - 100K applications, and a group of underpaid AOs are not some executive decision makers. You can't really possibly look at each individuals as a person. You need some sort of systematic number system. That's why even Harvard had the scores. There also might be whistle blowers if you keep racially discriminating. You can't really act like some sort of secret CIA operation. I want more clear rules and transparency from colleges. Anyone really want the opposite? |
DE&I sickos will never admit their policies are racist. It's as if they have some type of mental block or psychological problem that prevents them from understanding that these opportunities are finite and there is always someone on the other end being discrimated against. |
Asians are fine with test optional and holistic admission. They get better scores on ECs, interview, leadership, music, art, etc. What they are not OK is racial discrimination. There are plenty of other governments. If you don't like the Supreme Court decision of this country, you can leave. |
Not really. I'm smart enough to recognize that when over 96% of applicants will be rejected, that means it is a Lottery for everyone, so apply/buy your ticket but also plan to be rejected and select several Targets in the 25-60 range that you love so you have a great place to ultimately attend. Nobody will ever be able to tell you "if you do/get A, b, c, D thru Z" we will guarantee you a spot. Or at least not at a T25 school. Try ones in the 80+ range and you can get that guarantee Just accept the fact that over 95% are rejected at the T25 schools, so nobody is guaranteed a spot and nobody should go into it thinking, "I've done everything right now give me my admission ticket". That's not how it works, and it will never be like that. Harvard (and the likes) will just remove any references that can be construed as AA, they will find a nuanced way to get the balance they want for their freshman class. People really need to get over feeling they are entitled to a spot and that if they don't get it it is AA/racial. When 95% are rejected, there will be many who feel they are entitled to a spot and don't get it, does not matter their skin color. Yes, an AO can say "you are unlikeable, or not top Harvard material" based on the essays or LOR----it is really not much separating many from gaining admissions, yet fact is there are only going to be ~2K offers of admission and 50K+ will be disappointed. I for one would not want to employee someone who feels the need to sue because they got rejected from a school that rejects 95%+. It's an attitude problem at that point---lack of resilience. and lack of awareness that makes them think "ivy or bust" when in reality they will excel at any school |
All sound ok except that there was clear indication of racial discrimination. People rightfully got upset by that. We'll have a decision soon. |
