Why is University of Delaware never discussed here?

Any info? How does it compare with UMD?

Because nobody would pay OOS tuition from MD. UMCP is much better Uni but Chem E for UDel is pretty well known

I know plenty of people who are willing to pay to allow their student to go OOS to Delaware so they didn't have to stay in-state at UMCP.

None of these families were particularly concerned with prestige, their kids got to "go away" to school, enjoyed their experience, received fine educations.

For those people, there are plenty of schools out there. Why U Del? What's so unique about it?

UDel is smaller than UMD and def easier to get into. A solid and attractive school and convenient.

My kid decided early on that she wanted a SLAC, but if she had wanted a large school, we would have considered it (and Pitt). It was pretty good for what she wanted to study (Marine Bio).

We are not fans of College Park (the area), and she did not want to go somewhere with bunches of kids from her high school.

We just visited and really liked it. Much nicer than UMD.

Ditto this. College Park is just really depressing (IMO).
UDel feels like a real college.

Don't jump on me. This is my opinion only.

It’s a bit expensive. That said, I know someone attending and he is so excited about his program. He is from the west.

On the list for similar reasons - "away" experience but not too far, not hard to get into, has some good departments.

My husband studied Chem E there and had a fabulous college experience. Made many lifelong friends who are all successful in their respective careers. He went on to a top 5 medical school.

He is very loyal to the Blue Hens.

Yea, this is total BS. If these people have kids smart enough to get into UMCP, they're gonna get into better schools than Delaware.

This is so immature.

My daughter got into UMCP, Pitt, Ohio, Nova but decided in UDELL. She is nursing and it is direct admit, she got into Honors, got some scholarship money. She wanted to go away to school and UMCP does not have nursing.
