Anyone else need this? Want to pat yourself on the back about your tropical 1 mile run with intervals this am? Or 10 mile badassry? Or complain about the humidity and the sweat in your eyes? The lack of water fountains on your route? Whatever distance or speed, I honestly think everyone out their trying in this weather is amazing.
Surely some of us could use a summer running support and encouragement thread... ![]() |
I knew this morning was the best relief we'd have for a while and my kid woke me up at 545 anyways. I really wanted to do 3 miles but would be OK with 2. I achieved 3 miles in the pace I wanted, I'm so proud of myself! |
PP again, if anyone uses Nike Run Club, the "A Hot Run" is hilarious and entertaining. I also love A Rainy Run. Anytime Coach Bennett is in my ear, I am faster and stronger. |
Yes, me! I did 3 (slow) miles and am proud of myself. |
Good job you 3-miler rockstars!
It actually felt worse to me this morning - the humidity was higher, even though last weekend/week was hotter. I did 2 miles nonstop, then 2 miles of interval minutes. It was so, so hard ![]() |
It's beautiful out right now! Beautiful for summer I mean. |
Yeah this is the best outdoor running weather we’ve had in a while. Just slogged through 3 miles. |
I'm on week 10 of the 12 week "None to Run" program and can now run 20 minutes without stopping. At the beginning i was gasping after 30 seconds.
The heat is horrible but I'm getting out early and doing my best! Just gotta get through the next month or two... |
That's amazing. I did a couch to 5 k program last July and now I'm running 3 miles at a time. The programs really work! My biggest mistake was not wearing the right gear - man did people oN DCUM roast me when I said I was running in leggings! I think they were yoga leggings too. I invested in a good pair of running shoes too. Keep it up and I hope you love it as much as I do! |
I did 8 miles around 9 am this morning and it was in low 80’s. Much better than the very hot weekend. I’m about a minute slower in this heat though. I hope I get faster in the fall. |
PSA: cold, sweet watermelon is literally the best thing after a summer run.
Get yourself some good watermelon - find a big heavy one, dark green, dull (not shiny), with a "sun" spot as orange as you can find, and with lots of brown scratchy web marks on it. Cut it up. Chill it. Eat when you get back home. Hydration + electrolytes + cold refreshing deliciousness. |
Please tell me I'm not the only one who had an utterly miserable run this morning ![]() |
Not this morning but yesterday! It was like 75% humidity. I ran a whole minute slower than my normal pace (which is slow to begin with!) I actually kind of like running in the summer because I feel much more lose and warmed up, no injuries at all. But at 75% humidity… wowza |
This weekend will be beautiful in the AM! I am excited to get in a run both days, or at least one! |
This morning was hell for me!! I ran the first quarter of my run (a half mile, so not far) and was ready to give up). Partly the weather and partly where I am in my cycle (period is starting right now). Ugggggg. |
