Republicans want to kill women but Democrats want people to be able to choose their pronouns. So, really, both sides.

What's happening is that Republicans get attention and support by being more extreme than the others. By throwing out Roe v Wade, the Court created a situation in which the mainstream of the Republican Party now supports the position previously only held by fanatics (i.e. total or near total prohibition on abortion). So, to out-extreme them, the crazies have to do things like this bill. "All you want to do is make it illegal for a woman to get an abortion? RINO! We'll make it legal to kill them." Expect to see even crazier things.

Fetal personhood. And talk about the law of unintended consequences.

Life begins at fertilization. Fertilized eggs are people. Fetuses post viability are people.

And anyone can defend themselves or another person, including by deadly force.

So literally anyone can perform an abortion on a woman who believes their life is threatened, physically or mentally, by a “fetal person” at any pointing their pregnancy.

The remedy for the mothers life being in jeopardy is that anyone can kill the fetal person.

If the fetal person kills the mother person and survives, the fetal person shall receive the death penalty.

That is ridiculous. It’s also what the law says. (But that’s not what I meant whines MAGA, sigh).

A week ago MAGA is rushing these things through so fast they were stopping to consider the logical circumstances. Now, they aren’t even considering the plain text.

A mother does in childbirth and it’s fetal person newborn shall be sentenced to death.

I’m full term and get eclampsia. My fetal person baby is endangering my life. I can have an abortion instead of having a delivery.

In fact anyone can execute anyone in NC if they feel physically poor mentally threatened. No distinction between physical and mental harm. And it’s a subjective how you feel in the moment standard. Not a reasonable person standard.

There is no more due process in NC. In TX your neighbor can merely sue you. NC can top it! In NC, you can summarily execute people.

it is interesting what type of garbage keeps coming out of Republican representatives all over red states.

however, i dont think the title of the thread is correct and that the bil says a woman who tries to abort can be murdered. the bill seems to say that a woman trying to get an abortion can be prosecuted for attempted murder or for murder if she gets one (preumably also the doctor who performs the abortion would be charged with murder). as for the murder as self-defense the bill say that others have the right to use deadly force to prevent an abortion and i would read this to mean that a doctor can be killed but not the mother. even an idiot Republican evangelican zealot may have enough neurons to undersand that murdering the pregnant woman is not going to end up well for the six-week old fetus

But if a mass shooter kills innocent people, total strangers to the shooter, the state offers thoughts and prayers to the diseased and injured victims. The innocents chose to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. The twisted interpretation of the second amendment and having the number of guns in the hands of people to far exceed the population of the USA is more important. We protect the unborn, but the moment the unborn becomes born, all bets are off. We don’t feel responsible to provide proper healthcare, education, living wages, safe place to grow up, live, and become a productive, law abiding citizen.

Did ANY of you actually read the bill? It says that life begins at fertilization and is protected from that moment on. If a woman chooses to abort, she can be charged with murder. It says nothing about murdering a woman who chooses to abort.

I swear, some of you are a perfect example of the origin of the word "hysteria." Look it up.
