Weight will not budge. Seriously.

I did a 2 week, doctor led intensive “cleanse”…basically one meal a day, cut out wheat and sugar and dairy. 14 days of minimal food, and I lost…2 pounds.

I felt GREAT: alert and light. But not a pound.

I’m continuing the diet, but with 2 meals a day, and also adding in 45 mins daily of strength training and cardio. I’ve lost…nothing in 2 weeks.

I’m so upset. Am I bound to be fat forever? I am being honest here people. I did not sneak food. I lost 2 pounds, after cutting out almost ALL food. And rigorous exercise.

What’s wrong with me?

Oops sorry, I didn’t mean “but not a pound”.

I thought at my weight I’d lose quickly, or at least lose water weight.

My weight will not budge between 2 pounds even on a liquid, veggie diet with daily exercise.

That does not sound normal. When I had to abstain from food in the hospital for a week, I lost twenty pounds. Have you had your thyroid checked?

Thank you. I really didn’t think so either. I basically didn’t eat anything for 2 weeks.

Get your thyroid checked. I needed my thyroid surgically removed, and when I'm not adequately medicated, I gain weight inexorably.

Get your fasting insulin checked. Better yet, get a glucose tolerance test like the one for gestational diabetes. That’s the only way to definitively tell if you are insulin resistant.

Eat less. A lot less. That is how I’m losing weight.

That sounds really frustrating. Have you tracked your food to get a sense of what your intake is?

Eat less, and be patient. It takes time. The scale won't budge...won't budge...won't budge - and then suddenly it will. If you want to feel less crazy, weigh yourself no more frequently than monthly. Keep an app like My Fitness Pal so you can see the long-term progress.

I started losing weight 2 1/2 years ago and still use the app to enter my weight once a month, and it's cool seeing the peaks and valleys over all those months!

And, yeah, eat less. Good luck!

I had bowel surgery and in the hospital couldn’t eat for a week and gained 10 pounds. Bodies are weird and amazing and different. But OP I hear you. I did strict vegan, no added sugar, no flour, no alcohol, etc for 90 days. Lost 2 pounds.

How do your clothes fit OP?

OP here. I was essentially eating one meal a day, and that meal was very light and lean. I could not eat less without going to a complete liquid diet.

Did you find out why? Or are you just like me?

I'm sorry OP. My neighbor, about your weight, lost 100 lbs seeing Dr Beale in DC. Lost 60 lbs in 2 months. No surgery. Insurance doesn't pay and it's not cheap, but she is so pleased with her results. Good luck.
