09 Girls team tied the Las Vegas team that won top playoff bracket against #1 Matchfit. Yes, they lost in final of 2nd Playoff bracket.

Also should note that 3 starters did not go to the tournament due to plans and injury.

09 Girls go to USYS regionals this weekend without 3 defensive starters. They have to play Loudoun to get out of the group.

2010 Girls lost in top bracket finals and lost in Semi-finals.

2012 Boys won top bracket.

2010 Boys lost in Semis in top bracket, undefeated in Group.

2009 Boys lost in Semis of 2nd bracket. Three draws in group play.

2009 boys lost in the first round (“quarterfinals”) of the 3rd bracket (“silver”).

Thanks for the correction. Unfortunately the 09 Boys have been struggling a bit. The 2010s are losing a lot of its players to smaller clubs next year so they will also struggle a bit moving forward as well.

Toxic club - starting with the board of directors who don’t actually care about anything other than their players status and sweep a lot of reoccurring issues under the rug. Kevin Layton, director of the girls program and a coach, is a nightmare, incredibly unprofessional. He has no self control and has literally yelled at players and kicked soccer balls at them until they cry. He has temper tantrums on the field and pits players against each other. This does not build character or team unity, obviously. Multiple complaints against him have been raised to the BOD, who do nothing. Many, many talented players have left the club. Avoid at all costs - there are many more professional and successful programs in the area (just move to VA…it’s not that far away)
That said, there are still some good coaches at the club, but - the BOD is biased and the head of the girls program is a crazy man.

+100 Accurate description of the girls’ ecnl side. This should be its own thread.

This sounds fairly abusive. Has anyone reported to US Soccer?

Careful matey. Jeff is likely taking notes on ad hominem attacks. We are on probation as a thread because of posts like this.

Grudge? Revive an over two year old thread? And calling out by name? This forum will go down again if it panders to character assassinations.

Hmmm, we're very pleased with our experience so far. In fact, not only have we heard exceptional things about our age level coaches but have now experienced it first hand. And the berating of players that you mention by this certain coach we haven't seen that at all.

So far? You must be new to BSC. Give it a little time; your DD's first game (esp. if they are losing) will show you what kind of coach he really is. He coached HS age girls in the past and he is now slated to coach younger girls, and he surely has been told that he needs to change. Having seen him over the past few years, the OP's comments were spot on.

BSC definitely has some good coaches, but too often, the ED and BOD cover for the bad ones.

YOU must be new to BSC if you are already complaining and the season hasn't even started. Get a life and go somewhere else.

Move on, you either can play at BSC or you can't the ones on here complaining clearly couldn't cut it, topic was dead two years ago, moving on (yawn )

Federation doesn’t care about the youth system. And if you’re talking about US Club Soccer, that organization is about as shady as the allegations against BSC.

The bethesda girls top team are all going to play at great schools. They must be miserable.

Wow, incredibly dumb post. Must be a Ulittle parent.

Only a handful go to “great schools” from each year, whether Bethesda or Virginia Union. Each club could consider themselves lucky if they had 5 players go to P5 schools every year. Even top clubs like Solar or PDA does not put every girl in a P5 school. I would say expect maybe 5 players to go P5 with the rest being sprinkled between small D1, D2 and D3 schools. And this is for top performing teams. Years like ‘07 and ‘09 may only have one or two with top college commitments. The same can be said about any ECNL club in the DMV. Should also be said most of these scholarships will be 50% or less.

This is reality, Bethesda, Union, Pipeline, Arlington, or Loudoun. Sorry.
