I did not know the CEO of GM and CEO of Citigroup ran for the job. Those are the real women who should run. Not the two you are talking about. One in 107 days could not articulate any plans and the other passed out as just running for office was too much work.

Harder to justify RIFs at least some areas when there are bipartisan bills funding programs both sides support and where even republicans in congress, though they may not say it loud, expect those programs to continue bc they put the $ in the bill. Now with Congress out of the way he can fully play dictator.

Just a hunch, but I’d guess your politics fall slightly to the left of mine though we are both more moderate than extreme, and I only mention that a as preface to saying it’s an idea I can get behind as well. Ds need to appeal to the parts of the electorate that are available to persuade if they ever want to assemble a majority

Presumably these programs that “even republicans” want will continue once the government reopens. The government has rescinded some RIF notices and rehired some staffers they fired because they took a slash and burn approach earlier in the year and realized they actually needed people they let go. I’m skeptical that the administration will get rid of people permanently that they didn’t already plan to target.

I would think it’s really hard for me Dems to just go along with the Republicans CR, which advances cuts/funding changes made by the “One Big Beautiful Bill” (which passed via reconciliation/a simple majority), without getting anything in return for their votes. If Republicans want to end the shutdown they can get rid of the filibuster in the Senate and pass their bill with a simple majority.

I don’t want a CEO president. Let’s kill this myth that CEOs can run the government. They can’t. The former CEOs in Congress are mostly scammers like Rick Scott. Government is a different beast with different priorities.
