2025 Boys Private School Results /Game Schedules/ Commentary

Seems so many parents caught up in it over last years. Afraid to lose their spot on a club team if they don’t commit year round $$$. They have been duped by the machine.

What’s the end goal? To be a year round laxer? Sweet

Recruiting camps and summer league were just fine.

If your son isn’t a good enough athlete to play more than one sport at a HS level and still have time to play club lacrosse, I can’t help you. IF he is a good enough athlete to play two sports at a HS level and you let him choose to only focus on lacrosse, welp, that’s just allowing a bad choice as a parent.

Was it still a bad choice if he ends up at a top 25 D1 program at a school that he would not have been accepted to without lacrosse? Now I'm thinking I messed up.

Nope, not at all. The parents who gave their family's lives to end up at Tampa and Salisbury (fine schools dcum) may have a different reaction.

1. Landon (best win 15-7 over #22 Benjamin; only loss was OT to #17 Haverford)

Bullis, GP, and GZ all get upcoming shots at dethroning the Bears.

Drop off to Tier II.
2. Bullis (best win: 13-10 over STAB)
3. GP-GZ-SJC (GP's best win 8-7 over GZ; GZ (no signature win yet but dropped 3 one goal games to tough teams); SJC's best win is 11-6 over Taft).

Steep drop off to Tier III.
6. Episcopal (best win: 9-7 over PVI)
7. PVI (best win: 13-3 over Heights)

Tier IV.
8. Dematha (best win: 12-8 over Severn, plus two 1-goal losses to Bullis and St. Mary's)
9. Heights (best win: 12-6 over St. Mary's Ryken)
10. St. Mary's Ryken (best win: 7-6 over Dematha)

Tier V.
11. OLGC
12. St. Alban's

13-20. The Field

The rankings check out.

1. Landon's best win comes against Benjamin over Spring Break (16-1, who also beat McDonogh), Saint Andrews FL (11-5), and MSJ (6-2)earlier in the season. MSJ historically is towards the bottom of the MIAA but is having their best season in a very long time.
2. Bullis' best win is back in week 1 against STAB (STAB lost to Blue Ridge Academy yesterday who is a program on the rise) and Episcopal Academy (2-2) out of Philly. Bullis also has quality wins against WCAC perennial power Gonzaga and DeMatha (first game of season)
3. SJC best wins came against Taft (2-3) Severn (3-4) and Ryken (5-3). Ryken, similar to MSJ is having its best season in a long time.
4. Gonzaga top wins came out West against traditional Cali powers La Costa Canyon (5-4) and Torrey Pines (6-4)
5. Prep best win this year came on Tuesday night against Jesuit rival Gonzaga and back in week one against Saint Mary's Annapolis (3-5). Despite the Saints record, they are getting better under first year HC

If you want to rank teams based purely on quality wins, I'd rank them as the following

1. Bullis (STAB, Episcopal Academy, GZ, DM)
2. Landon (Benjamin, MSJ, Saint Andrews FL)
3. SJC (Taft, Severn, Ryken)
4. Prep (GZ, Saint Mary's Annapolis)
5. GZ (La Costa Canyon, Torrey Pines)

If you want to incorporate subjective analysis, factor in the quality of opponents, the total number of losses, and the type of loss (did you get dominated, or did you lose in overtime )... I'd rank the teams in this order.

1. Bullis
2. Landon
3. SJC
4. GZ
5. Prep (GP has some bad losses and plays inconsistently)
Honorable Mention: (In order)
DeMatha
Episcopal

The good news is that these rankings will become clear over the next 3 weeks as league play kicks in both the WCAC and IAC. Enjoy!

Captain Obvious Interesting Games
STA v GP. GP should win against a very thin STA. Maybe a hot goalie for STA?
OLGC v Paul VI. Paul VI gets one against a very top loaded GC
DM v a top public in PA. Good test

Others - StJ, LA, SA, H, SJC, GZ - easy w's

Prep should beat STA today by 7+, otherwise, they are going to lose to Episcopal this Spring

STA's best offensive player is out for the season.

STA's strength is in their poles and lsm's, but can't see them scoring more than 4-5 today.

Recently divorced dad here. Went to my sons game vs Dematha recently. Saw a smoke show man, anyone know a mom with highlights, blonde hair, blue eyes, 5,9, and a dematha mom? Need to find out if she single?

It's all about wins!

Landon is #1 and it's not close. They beat Benjamin who knocked off McDonogh. Landon will have more wins at the end of Spring and that's what matters.

I guess if it takes that much focus ie year round lacrosse to get to a top 25 D1 program for your son w his athletic ability, great.

More wins against weak teams 💯

Why do you list SJCs victory over Severn as a quality win for the Cadets?

Bottom line, SJC is not that good this year.
They will be lucky to beat DeMatha this Spring. They’d get their ass kickef if they played with the big boys in Baltimore.

Speaks should have left for the college ranks after the 2022 season.

Better start bribing Hawks families again to make the commute from Annapolis…
