I totally agree with you, which is why we stayed. Even though this season has been absolutely miserable to live through. We're giving it one more year.

What do you think will change in the next year?

It's no secret that they are rebuilding and this was a shit year. But, they are rebuilding. The coaches have been focused on the right things - player development - for the most part. Are they dead last in most age groups? Yes. But, what I see on the field is improving over last year. The skills on our team have improved from summer to now. While everyone loves to hate on Adam including me, the communication IS way better than it was before and honestly a lot of the stuff people Q

complain about are issues that are found at every club. And no this isn't Adam. Do they have a long way to go? Yes. While I'm not gung ho on a lot of stuff, the progress is there and overall much better without a lot of the toxicity that was in place last year.

Wishful thinking will get you nowhere. The teams are still terrible and other club teams are advancing at a faster pace

If the GA wants to ever get close to the level of the ECNL they MUST relegate clubs like TSJ. ECNL clubs coming in due to the MLS Next will demand this.

It doesn't matter. More clubs = more dollars for GA. There are plenty of bottom feeder clubs all across the country in ECNL and GA. Teams like having them there to get a few easy wins, allows bench players to get some extra time. The more the merrier

The GA has a plan to kick out the non competitive clubs and replace them with clubs that can field good teams. The GA adding McLean and Loudoun as part of the plan. As some clubs drop further to the bottom, they will be offered Aspire.

There's obviously a lot of "churn" this spring amongst NoVA clubs and the area will end up with more GA clubs than ECNL for 25/26. I think next season will be critically important to FCV's continued future in the GA. Now that they're a season removed from the mass exodus of staff and players, it will be important that the current leadership and staff are able to prove that the program will be able to be competitive again at the GA1 level. If that doesn't happen, then I probably wouldn't be entirely shocked to see the club relegated to Aspire in 26/27.

You realize that it's an entirely new coaching staff next fall too, right?

isn’t the slate of coaches all new, too? it’s not like the 25/26 is the learning and experience of the 24/25 staff.

Yes, this is already version 2.0 of the new TSJFC. This time last year there was a new group of coaches brought in to replace the departing VRSC/VDA coaches. Those coaches didn't last the year and now there is another new group coming for next year? I think we've seen this act before.

With the exception of the DEI coaches at VRSC who else has Been there more than 1.5-2 years? Exactly. VRSC is a revolving door always trying to reel in more $ with new shiny thing. 🤡

McLean is getting GA Aspire (GA2) and MLSnext2. Not full GA.

Whatever helps you sleep well knowing you’re funding VRSC, but pp isn’t wrong. Each year is new coaches across the board. Been like that since they opened up shop back in fall 2018

Effectively making McLean better than VRSC and TSJFC

Yeah, I've heard that. And on the surface, that wouldn't seem to suggest a lot of "stability" within the club. But at the same time, a year ago, the departures of all the OG FCV staff were pretty sudden. I have to think that the club was left scrambling to hire new staff and coaches for this season. And when you're scrambling like that, it's understandable how you might not end up getting the ideal candidates. Now I don't how many coaches are leaving between this season and next or how many are leaving on their own vs. not having a contract renewed, etc. But I can give them the benefit of the doubt for this season because of that. And I have to think that the GA would, too, since they do bear at least a small degree of culpability for the situation. They could have said, "Sure, Christian, we'll let VRSC into GA but not until 25/26 because we don't want to encourage a mass player exodus from one of our OG clubs on such short notice. So you'll both have 24/25 to prepare for 25/26 when VRSC joins GA and FCV's new staff will have had one season to right the ship and take control of their own destiny." But they obviously chose not to do that.

You are completely missing the mark on where the blame lies for the demise of FCV. Lies squarely with TSJ and Adam.

By “they” you mean the same folks currently running the club, right? But sure, maybe the people (person?) who made all those bad decisions and are responsible for the current situation, will suddenly get it right this time? You have more optimism than most. What’s the saying? Fool me once shame on…
