What matters most is playing for a club that plays in the better tournaments and can compete. Wins and losses won’t matter to college coaches. Players just need the exposure against the best teams.
If your DD wants to play in college it’s important to understand what this means to her. Top D1 lacrosse programs, top D1 academic schools, DII or DIII. The math is not great for receiving an offer from top D1 programs. About 140-200 players may commit to these teams each year. If the NCAA adopts the rule change next week making lacrosse 11v11 instead of the current 12v12 fewer offers may be made going forward. This change would certainly impact the middie position. One thought behind the proposed change is the women’s game will become more specialized like the men’s game, meaning more subbing of offensive and defensive specialist. Don’t worry about wins and losses. Choose the club that competes at a high level and can best support your daughters’’s academic and lacrosse goals. |
This is 100% true. Me kids goal is Capital and they sprays play in the best bracket. Middle school means nothing. Ninth grade means nothing. It starts to get real when they are sophomores. Stop stressing now and just develop your daughters game |
Didn’t realize it was their B team. |
It was not their B team. I think that was a typo. It is their A team that went 0-3 |
| Pride doing well this weekend while Stars losing as always |
I believe Stars won as many yesterday as Pride. Remember, only good energy here please. |
Can someone explain the proposed NCAA rule changes to me like I'm a dummy (which I am)? Does the 11 v 11 just eliminate a middie? |
I was thinking NCAA would eventually move to 10v10 like in international play. But they are moving to 11v11? |
A group of college coaches have proposed some pretty dramatic rules changes they are voting on this week, including moving to 11v11. It’s all under the idea this will make the game safer for women. Not many are buying this, but it will certainly take away opportunities for women in college sports. This won’t eliminate a middie, in that there will still three on the circle. But the thought is the game will become more focused on offensive and defensive specialist. And the two-way middies will become less of a thing. |
Agree. No need for negativity. Stars is in a better pool than past tournaments with some good teams. Urban Elite who gave Stars is biggest loss, beat Coppermine (without their older players) at Nationals on Wednesday, for instance. Good to see them engaging some top 20 competition. Pride did have a good day in the toughest pool--tying the 5th ranked team in the country, Aces, who beat Coppermine at Hershey, and beating LI Liberty soundly. |
M&d b = M&d black which is their a team |
How many girls did Heros Green take this year? |
3 |
Heard it was NL girl, a MDU girl, and third is unknown. New to the area girl, maybe |
| Colorado team won the Midatlantic Championship. Beat Eagle Stix and Crush through the playoff bracket, while M&D had a very tough weekend. Things are changing in girls lacrosse. Wow! |
