Had a second trimester miscarriage last month and am getting back in shape. My midsection is particularly jiggly but, more than that, just feels weak/unstable. What are the best things I can do to improve abdominal and pelvic strength? Thanks. |
I'm sorry for your loss. |
Very sorry for your loss, OP. Google stomach vacuums. I’ve been doing them for a few weeks now and definitely see and feel a difference. |
getmomstrong program |
OP I do barre 4 days a week. In my class the prime focus is on core strength and balance, with specific exercises that focus on the pelvic floor. The specific barre I do is Barre3. I cannot say enough good things about the program. Not only is the workout effective, but it is such a warm and welcoming atmosphere with members at all different stages of their lives.

Pilates and barre. Im sorry OP. |
This. Highly recommend Fuse Pilates studio for private instruction. Mind the Mat is also excellent. |
Yoga |
Ab wheel.
I’m so sorry for your loss. |
Do some planks!! Forearm plank, straight arm plank, side planks, then a boat (yoga) in and out of a half-boat.
I do exercises and 1-2 minutes for a forearm plank, a straight arm plank, and then the boat pose. No, I don't have a 6 pack (kinda too girl for that) but I feel strong in my core. I am very sorry for your loss |
I'm so sorry OP.
Check out getmomstrong.com - it's specifically for pregnant and postpartum mothers, focuses on strengthening your pelvic floor, and teaches you how to breath correctly so that you don't cause more damage. |
Very sorry to hear this OP. Great suggestions above. |
Bumping for more ideas |
My first recommendation would be to find a Pelvic Floor PT, even if your obgyn does not think you *need* one, they can help you. In VA you have up to 20 PT appointments without the referral of a DR, so plenty.
Also check out deliciouslyfitnhealthy on instagram she's a certified postpartum trainer and has tons of free ideas on her profile, or you can get one of her programs. I would avoid going to pilates or barre until you re-learn how to activate your pelvic floor. |
Yes, this. I follow the founder on IG and her workouts are great, plus she has a very supportive attitude. |
