Coleges with good accounting program

DD is a sophomore and interested in a degree in accounting. We're in state in VA and of course looking at UVA but it seems that there is no direct admit to the accounting major there, so a bit risky. Vtech is under consideration also. We are trying to come up with a list of colleges with good accounting program and would appreciate some suggestions. DD has no geographic preference and would prefer a mid-size university with a good recruiting scene. SO far, she has all A with a couple of APs and planning to have 4 APs next year (Junior). Very strong student in math, science, and foreign language. Not so much in English and History. We'll be self-pay and although we can stretch and pay sticker price, we would also greatly appreciate any merit aid she can get. Thank you in advance for any suggestion.

Whatever program that allows her to graduate with no debt and the least amount of outlay for you.

Since you're in VA, she should apply to every state school with an Accounting major.

I went to Wake Forest and they are very strong in pre-professional programs. Pre-law, pre-med. and especially business. I had a couple of friends do a 5 year CPA program and go on to have very successful careers.

hello, fellow Deac I was about to post the same. One of my best friends did the accounting program. She has done well for herself.

Granted, it is stupid expensive now.

My DH is a partner in a local CPA firm. They have been VERY happy with their JMU grads.

we're already discussing colleges in our house with our sophomore.

She's ok with it only sometimes.

That said, I have already made a preliminary list for her of places we should check out.

I graduated from JMU with a degree in accounting. unless they were total dunces or just weren't interested in going that route, pretty much everyone went big 4.

OP here. I think that's a good time to start a list and look into what it takes to get accepted. We are in no way obsessed with college.

How is the outlook for accountants? I have read that there will be less demand due to outsourcing and automation. Is there any truth in those claims?

Does UVA even have an accounting major? You can enroll at the McIntyre School and concentrate in accounting.
