FocusMate— life changing!!

Anonymous
Anyone else using this? I’ve been using it for 2-3 weeks and it’s been amazing!! I’ve gotten so much done— took 2 online classes and took 2 certification exams that I’ve been trying to focus on for the past 8-10 months.

It is by far the best productivity site I’ve used (and I’ve tried so many). If you have ADHD or are just a procrastinator, this might be the thing that works for you.

No, not spam. I’m just so excited to finally find something that can help me focus and get sh!t done. I’ve struggled for decades! And tried so many things. But this has been easy free (for 3 times a week) or really inexpensive ($5 a month for unlimited).

These past few weeks was taking online classes. Next I’m going to tackle cleaning the house.

Oh, and I didn’t include a link because I didn’t want people to think this was spam.

You are paired up with someone virtually. At the beginning of 25 or 50 minutes, you each state what you want to accomplish. Then get to work. At the end of the session, you tell each other what you got done.

From their site:

What is Focusmate?
Focusmate changes the way you work by connecting you to other professionals who have committed to being accountable for finishing their most important work.

You choose a time to work, and Focusmate pairs you with an accountability partner for a live, virtual coworking session that will keep you on task.

Research in psychology and behavioral science shows that regular human connection reduces the likelihood that a worker will procrastinate or become distracted.

The Focusmate virtual coworking model is rooted in evidence-based approaches to productivity, and systems of accountability developed by leading executive and leadership coaches.

In our most recent internal survey, 95.5% of users reported a significant increase in productivity, and reduced procrastination.

I would feel so awkward I would not be able to work.

When I tried it the person on the other end wouldn’t shut up.

How do you take an online class with someone hanging out in your field of vision?

This is not my cup of tea.

Everyone I’ve co-worked with has been very matter of fact. Only issue I’ve had is when someone accidentally unmuted themselves and were eating something crunchy LOL
