| Well, if Eve had anything to say... |
| There are other reasons but lately I find I could never worship a creator who thinks it's a good idea for ladies to start growing whiskers on their chin just as they reach an age where they are already struggling to maintain some form of attractiveness against all odds. |
WTH? What religion is this? |
It's any religion --pp is mainly complaining about being old and wondering, in a lighthearted way, how a supreme being could be so cruel. |
Don't know if the creator thinks it's a good idea, but he certainly lets it happen -- along with a lot of much worse things, like childhood leukemia and COVID. |

I was raised Catholic but always questioned my faith. It didn’t make sense to me that if there was one true God, people would have so many different beliefs. Also witnessing how Christians pick/choose what to believe in/what to ignore.
After I started working as a nurse, I really couldn’t believe in a God. Horrible things happen to good people and terrible people get away with terrible things. I would say most of my co-workers are believers. “Oh it was God’s will.” “We can’t understand God’s plan” “Prayers answered.” Or my favorite “well if lots of people pray then God will XYZ.” Like it’s a popularity contest and if enough people want it, God will spare that person but not some poor soul without a big support system? But I don’t argue. I don’t even say I’m an atheist bc (despite living in the DMV), I know people would look down on it. I just walk away. As long as you don’t try to convince me or infringe on my rights, I don’t care if you worship the Flying Spaghetti Monster. By the way, I’m not anti-Christian. I think the core of Christ’s message is great. And I think many so called Christians are very much not Christ-like. And likewise, many non-Christians are… |

Because if there was an truly all-knowing all-powerful being (1) there would be no school shootings, premature births, miscarriages, or children with disabilities and (2) they wouldn’t feel the need to be celebrated and worshipped like some thirsty narcissist.
I have seen too many really good people die before their time and bad things happen to people for no reason. You can’t tell me that physical or cognitive disabilities are the work of anything that deserves praise. Religion feels like crowd control to me: toil here in your miserable life, suffer the injustices, but no worries, you’ll be free and rewarded in the afterlife. |
| It is impossible for a God to be Omniscient and for humans to have free will. It’s got to be one or the other. |
Religion also brings some people great comfort. |
So does fentanyl. |
Actually, no. |
You let your kids make bad decisions, right? Or you should, instead of helicoptering everything they do. Not all kids get the message every time, but it’s how most kids grow up to be wise humans. Same principle in a humanity scale. |
DP. Actually, yes. The concepts are mutually exclusive. If god knows in advance what they will choose, and he created them, then technically there is no free will since it is predetermined. If he does not know, then he is not all-knowing. Can't have it both ways. These are not new ideas, and they predate Christianity. “Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?” ― Epicurus |
| I believe in a Higher Power but have no use for any form of organized religion. The Roman Catholic Church is responsible for 75% of the world's atrocities. |
