Option H is permanent and the old Wootton HS campus will be closed for good?

What exactly did they do to bully the board? Most of them spoke within their allotted time, one of them might have gone slightly over their time, and one of them may have been a bit overzealous.

But is it any different then when other community members come to speak and have support in the background? Like the Crown and Fields Road families from a couple of weeks ago and they had everyone wearing the yellow vests and there were some today too.

How is one group different then the other? Or were they both trying to bully the board?

it’s only bullying when Wootton parents do it, for everyone else it’s just standing up and advocating for their kids.

That Crown video with all the kids was absolutely RIDICULOUS. How is anyone taking "their" school?? It does not belong to them. This is a PUBLIC school system.

i’ve seen that video before. it seems so forced. and I mean i’m pretty sure the kids didn’t come up with the idea to do it themselves. i’m against H 100% but the video isn’t helping either side-it’s just nonsense.

When someone testifies about how their kid can walk to elementary and middle school but the mean mean MCPS is going to fracture their community by making them take :gasp: a bus to high school like the majority of kids in Montgomery County they definitely sound pretty freaking entitled.

lol most of the kids were embarassed enough to hide their faces behind the signs.

I'm all for it and hope that the kids are voluntarily giving their testimonies.

At younger ages though, I suspect they're given things that their parents tell them to say or do.

If you already are walking and then you are being forced to take a bus to a school further away than it’s an issue. It’s not the same as when you were always gonna be bussed. But you know that.

1) "then", not "than" 2) on a scale of 1-10, how big an issue is the mode of transportation you take to get you to your school?

That's quite an over simplification of their viewpoints. That's the emotional part of what they are saying, yes. But a lot of their arguments made sense. It is essentially a school closure and you can't do it this way this fast. Very short sighted and not well thought out. And if you try to ask questions of the board (as in the Gaithersburg meeting last night) they say they can't answer questions about the options until a decision has been made. Why do they not know the answers to these very expected questions before they make a huge move like closing WHS??

Also- why are all the communities getting town halls/meetings with BOE reps regarding this study except for WOOTTON? H impacts Wootton most of all!

Getting rid of the Wootton name, and getting rid of a top performing school is what the BOE and Mont County Gov would call "equity". The Wootton parents can just pay for private schools if they don't like it. if you are a Wootton parent, perhaps you should consider this when voting BOE and county positions.

Coming out of the meeting today, where do we think this will land? Anyone get a feel?

I wasn’t there but from what i’ve heard it was almost all people against H. No real supporters. BOE didn’t really make any meaningful comments.

I can’t afford private schools for my kids. I need to save for their college tuition

A couple clowns made A**es of themselves, and Wootton to Crown seems predetermined.
