True but D1 caliber young Aug/Sept players will be playing up with their grade. Because of this top teams will be grouped by grade. |
This is exactly the arguement. One person is trying to explain why you dont want to play down. (college recruiting) The other person is trying to convince people that playing down is no big deal. Ask yourself. If you were a college coach and your job depended on wins would you be looking to roster players that are playing down a grade against younger players than their grade in school? See how it works? It makes sense to group players by grade as young as possible to set them up for being recruited to play in college when theyre older. |
There are a few problems Delusional August Guy. First, you still don't understand college recruiting. Like, at all. Second, you don't understand youth soccer clubs. Again, like at all. Finally, you are off your meds again and just making things up. Clubs have always formed teams based on the age group window. They did this pre-BY, during BY, and will now do it again post-BY. The clubs are all posting statements on their own websites telling you this. But you and your narcissism (or delusion) just can't accept it. That's fine. No one (except the voices in your head who occasionally make an appearance here) believes you at this point. Go over to the talk-soccer forums and do this there. You may win some converts to your cult. |
The cutoff and age grouping is done be age. Month and year of birth Just like Birth Year today, but with a shift from 1/1 to 8/1 Grade irrelevant today. Will be irrelevant next season |
College doesn't care about grade Only graduating year |
True. However... Grouping by grade is the same thing as grouping by graduating year. |
| Its going to be entertaining when ECNL posts rosters next season and all the top teams will be grouped by grade / graduation year. |
Sure will Delusional August Guy. Sure will. Can't wait to see all the ECNL tryouts by grade posted here first. Do you have any to post? |
Teams aren't grouped by graduating year now nutjob, and recruiting is happening without issue |
The oldest in an age group has much higher odds of college play than youngest. It's what the stats and studies show, not opinion, not up for debate. |
College coaches know how to evaluate players so they would take the best players regardless of other players on the field. Being the youngest in the age group is a ticket to playing another sport not college soccer. Just have your DD play up to avoid the August girl you don't like. |

Anyone going to mention the first two tiers of boys college recruiting are MLS Club academies then MLS Next teams
Both are BY and school grades are not on anyone's radar |
Its the play down for wins thought processes. As opposed to the play up for development. We didnt have to deal with this type of thinking pre 2017 |
Its because with BY "trapped" players are playing up not down. |
MLSnext has announced nothing so we don’t know what they are. Having said that, I’m sure recruiting is not being factored into this decision. It’s enough of a mess without it. |
