We went from "we're going after violent criminal gangmembers" to just sweeping up any arbitrary person who's vaguely latino pretty much overnight. |
He does not care about anyone but himself. HE would ship his family to El Salvador if it got him something he wanted and sadly deep down they know it. I almost feel bad for his kids...almost. |
But this has always been the case green card holders who commit crimes get deported, This guys crime was violent but I know a guy who got went to renew his green card, forgot that he had a writing bad check charge, and was detained at the federal immigration detention center in Va., for a year while waiting for his case to be heard. Thanks to a good pro-bono lawyer he was cleared, but it was close. I have another friend, green card holder, who 10 years ago was stopped at Dulles, he was accused of being a convicted and deported drug kingpin, trying to enter illegally. His identity had been stolen, at some point and became and assumed alias of the felon. He spent thousands on lawyers fees trying to clear it all up and was eventually cleared. In his case, that night after hours of questioning, he at least was released pending a hearing. But under Trump this is the kind of person who’d be disappeared no questions asked. That’s scary. Yes what Trump is doing is awful, but any green card holders who didn’t know that they could be detained and deported even for non-violent crimes are at the FAFO stage. The difference now is these people could have flown under the radar for a while but now he’s tracking them down. |
Sure, but they are just sweeping people up that they *think* are criminals etc, when the reality is, they are just sending random people to a Salvadoran gulag, status or criminal history be damned. |
Don't normalize it. I know that you are on the side of the immigrants but everyone is finding ways for the situation to be less appalling than it is. They absolutely do not think that most of these immigrants are criminals. No one in the administration believes that the many legal Venezuelan immigrants who have committed no crimes are actually gang members just because they have a tattoo with a crown that says Mom. They are not focused on getting rid of illegals. They are creating terror. They are trying to scare immigrants out of here and keep them away. They are trying to silence all opponents. They believe that the ends justify the means. And they think that Americans are too racist and stupid to figure this out. I can't stand that the press, Congress, everyone is letting them get away with this. THEY ARE LYING. The know these are not bad guys. We are the fascist bad guys. It makes me sick. |
Archive link: https://archive.is/x0ylh This family came to the U.S. and the parents got green cards and later applied for citizenship. They did not obtain their son's citizenship. I suppose they were too cheap to pay his fees. This is their fault! A friend of my son since middle school was from the UK and the same thing happened during Trump's prior administration. His mother gained a green card due to her unique job qualifications. She didn't bother to get green cards for her children. The son graduated high school, completed community college, and got a letter at age 21 to self deport or be banned from the US for ten years. Meanwhile his mom bought two houses and is a citizen. Even under Biden a felon who was convicted of felony assault against another person would be deported. I'm glad he's gone. I did not vote for Trump. If his parents had simply filled out a citizenship form and paid a fee while he was young, he would have not been deported. Cheap idiots. |

Trump is ruining the Republican brand for a generation. Tariffs, tanking the economy. |
This is the reason for due process. Without the rule of law, leaders can make arbitrary decisions that suit them. |
