I’m very surprised former US presidents won’t attend. I’m guessing that is all because of Trump.

But they will allow military dress for William and Edward, and not for Andrew and Harry, in a departure from the “morning suits” compromise of Philip’s funeral.

That's a pretty small number. For reference, the BBC says the invitees include "members of her family, senior UK politicians and heads of state from across the world, and representatives from the charities she supported."

The Queen could easily fill 600 of those seats just with representatives of her charities. Then there are 650 members in the House of Commons and about 760 or so in the House of Lords. That's your 2,000. Obvs, not all of those people will be invited, but you can see why they would minimize the number of international guests when they can only accommodate a small portion of their own dignitaries.

This really has nothing to do with Trump, though I'm sure it's a fringe benefit to not have to consider him. And, FYI, the way it would work - had they invited more Americans than Biden - would be that they would have invited Biden and a small delegation of his choosing. You think Biden would have invited Trump to be part of the delegation?

Actually, traditionally, royal wills are sealed indefinitely. In limiting his to 90 years, Philip was actually increasing transparency.

Lol the biggest reason Harry is beta is because he's dumb. An Atlantic writer described him as coming off like a chicken in the Oprah interview and I thought that was spot on.

I think calling Harry dumb is unfair and unjustified. Are you saying that people who do not go to college, dumb? There are plenty of plumbers, electricians, carpenters etc that are very smart just in different ways. Harry could have had a learning disability which in the 80's might not have been picked up. So I wish people would stop saying this.

It is not that Harry did not go to college but he could not pass the exams that would allow him to enter a college or university. With help from multiple tutors and a heavy dose of gentlemanly cheating, he got out of Eton. He did better at Sandringham where academic ability is not necessary.

He would probably have made a good field officer if he had stayed in the Army. He did not like the sanitized military life he had in Afghanistan and left the military. He needed Meghan or another tough woman to set him right. I wonder if the Queen gave him that advice.

Yeah, I think people are giving him bonus points because he’s a going to be king. Maybe young Prince William really is some people’s thing just based on looks, but I don’t think he would stand out in a crowd for most.

I do think Harry is the more attractive of the two but I don’t know that he would stand out in a crowd either.

Also Harry is a Beta which is not appealing to some.

I dunno. I think that what looks like beta on TV doesn’t always translate to real life. Like Tom Holland. He looks way stronger and has much more swagger when he is in a crowd of normal people. But since most of us are, indeed, looking at Harry on a screen it doesn’t make a difference.

Newsflash, these are all choreographed by the Palace machine. Harry was surrounded by bodyguards and was playing video games while in Afghanistan. They were building up his image and a role for him, the way they do for all royals. His behavior since being cut off from the Palace Machine is closer to who he is, still heavily polished by his PR, but closer to his true personality. The man is suing the country to provide security, surrounded by bodyguards he is still afraid to travel let alone fight in a war zone.

In the old days papers had morals. We didn't know about the affairs of our Presidents for example. I do think public people should have basic personal freedom and taping someone's private conversation should be concerning to all.
