On other forums, people are talking about a "really bad cold going around...settled in my lungs."
This is exactly how people started talking about initial Covid! |
Yep. My guess if that they have been in contact with others who have traveled out of the area into the Covid states. |
Yes!! It's just spreading quietly right now, and no one wants to get tested. |
So now we’re “zero-colds”? |
No, dummy. That's not what we're saying. We're saying that the start of Covid was preceded by lots of talk of a "really bad cold." That cold turned out to Covid. Can you follow that? Now we're hearing the same talk about a "really bad cold." |
| Per the CNN article posted up-thread, while vaccines are shown to be effective against Delta, the longer the virus spreads among the unvaccinated, the more opportunities is has to mutate into more troubling variants. Gamma is more resistant, evidently, but only time will tell. |
I don't know. Both my kids' grades all had some crazy cold two weeks before school ended. Some kids vomited, some had sore throats, some fevers, some runny noses, but all tested negative for covid multiple times in many cases. And DH and I got it too but we are fully vaxxed. I think it's something else. |
| I think it's supposed to hit on Thursday; quick, everyone to your basements! |

I would suggest many of you follow an actual infection disease doctor who has expert knowledge of the human immune system. Someone like Dr. Monica Gandhi would be a good option.
Stop freaking out about Delta variant if you are vaccinated. Drama makes for good headlines, but it isn't truthful or real science. https://twitter.com/MonicaGandhi9?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor |
except that all other respiratory viruses are coming back now.

Gamma isn’t more resistant to the mRNA vaccines. It is more resistant to the treatments like remdesivir and convalescent plasma.
Yes Delta is a very big concern. Mutations are most likely to happen in situations with a large population of people with weak immunity. The unvaccinated who have weak immunity from past infections and people who stupidly are getting only one of the two dose vaccines. |
Agreed. Even if less people are testing if it was truly spreading, percent positivity would increase. Percent positivity is still incredibly low here. |
| Some of you are totally off your rocker. I stayed home, did not travel, masked up and was vaccinated. Everything I have read says vaccine effective against Delta so I will carry on with my life. Do you all like the chaos of living in a pandemic? I find it so bizarre. |
They do. And they won't stop until we are a totalitarian state. |
Except that no scientist who is studying this agrees. Those colds people got at the beginning of 2020 were apparently...just colds. |
