Samba Boys

They are playing the game they love and playing it well. It is ridiculous the way that adults on this page continue to ridicule and bash them.

Nothing against the kids, but the play style of the coach + the hype that SAC coaches (or maybe parents) put on their kids—- check who started this and other similar “samba boyz” threads— justifies the dose of reality here.

You want to see where their style of play goes? Check out MLS Next for their oldest age group. They've played 10 games and been shutout in 8 of them.

They went out and handled their business with no hoopla or fake promotional hype. But that what you expect if you compare the class act of Bethesda to the boyz from Springfield

The question is, why did they take so many guest players? Hahaha, the BETHESDA YOUNG GENTLEMEN couldn't play a national tournament with their regular kids? I guess if you can't beat SYC with the regular line up, you call up players from other clubs for a major tournament. By the way, the top SYC Samba Boyz beat Bethesda's top team 10-1. Good luck to both teams in the tournament though, the kids are not to blame for all the ignorant parents here.

Maybe not all the families of the regular players wanted to spend thousands to travel to a summer tournament because, I don’t know, these are 9 year olds?

In any event this is all rich coming from a club that uses guest players for major games and tourneys more than any other club we see in the DMV.

Bruh, the Salsa Sistaz (SYC Girls Blue same age group) took a guest player from Richmond. SYC guilty too bruh.

That was my point - SYC does this more than any team we see in the DMV, at least on boys side, whether MLSNext or major tournament play. The results vary immensely when they do not have double- or triple-rostered players popping in for games. Everybody who sees their teams more than two or three times a year knows exactly what is going on there.

Have never seen bsc u9 use a guest player. Did anyone actually see this in Dallas?

So the team that beat Samba boys 4-1 lost to Bethesda 7-1 today.

The final will be between forms acadamy and bsc with bsc coming out on top.

Bethesda won 7-1 in the quarter final and is going to the semi final.

I guess that’s where intentional fouls at the 8 and 9 year old level, where I’ve never seen a yellow or red card issued against a player, gets you. Eventually, dirty play catches up to you. If SYC older teams become as successful with this style of play as you’re bragging about, then it will prove me wrong.

Why don’t they give cards at that age in travel? They are supposed to be learning the game. I saw a u9 get a yellow card in a rec game once for pushing...

Kids can get carded at U9. Two of my DS teammates got carded in the Spring - one for a nasty slide tackle (would have been red card if older) and one for grabbing an arm and pulling down a kid. It happens, just rare.

Watching the EUROs, lots of cards for late challenges that result in a cleat to the ankle or foot. That happens quite a bit at U9 but never gets carded cause the kid doesn't roll around on the ground like a clown afterwards.

Looks like Bethesda u9s won the tournament in Dallas out of 24 teams. Congrats to them!

The samba boys just fired their coach. They are breaking up 3 will stay syc 3 will join team America 3 will join dorados and the last 3 stayed in Dallas to join a local team there. All other SYC teams will have lowered team fees as they will no longer have subsidize the samba boys who were on financial aid.
