This is apples and oranges. Anna can get out of this marriage. She can stop having children. I would be worried about him molesting their children after the last scandal. How can she stay with this creep?

News outlets are reporting that federal marshals have confirmed he was arrested by Homeland Security, which doesn’t sound like tax fraud to me. My guess is manufacturing/distribution of child pornography and/or sex trafficking.

I think the comparison to Elizabeth Smart is a bridge too far, but I would not underestimate the degree of reproductive coercion in fundamentalist "Christian" contexts. She likely cannot access birth control, and has been brainwashed to believe that birth control = abortion = baby murder. Marital rape is not considered rape within their teachings. Young women are not educated and have no employment prospects. The road out is harder than you seem to think.

All this is true. If the family wasn't famous. Anna has a very easy out: make a book deal, cash in, and EXIT to save your children.
