It's kinda funny that PP doesn't realize how poorly s/he is representing this apparently problematic school. I know literally nothing about it (and several members of my family went to Brown and Yale), but have a negative impression from posts like this.

Honestly, your negative impression wouldn't get too much better if you knew the school's students and alumni better. Most of them are equally self-centered, arrogant, and oblivious.

Your unironic use of "problematic" — easily the most played-out and insufferable word to gain a foothold in the popular vernacular in years — is Exhibit A that you wouldn't get a bid to a single frat at Dartmouth. Brown sounds like the perfect place for you, if you can even get in.

That's just silly. When you get to Dartmouth next year, I hope you grow up quickly.

It's posts like these that seriously point out the lack of self-awareness of most Dartmouth grads. Not all, but a good chunk of the ones I know are so... myopic.

This is just a hit job.

I mean if you have the chops to get into Dartmouth, you'll probably have several options for schools that are just as good or better.

Sure, possibly. And if Dartmouth is the only precious Ivy all these pearl-clutchers are gonna send in their deposit in about five seconds.

No. My kid won't be applying to Dartmouth at all. I'd rather see him at Northwestern or Rice or University of Illinois. Thanks for playing.

I am disturbed how every sentence began with I am disturbed. This article was preposterous and had a clear agenda. Bottom line this clearly is not a good fit for the author why didn’t she just transfer and move along like millions of other kids deal at other schools

Is this trolling meant to make Dartmouth students and alumni look like morons? If so, 10/10.

Read the rest of this thread, or any thread on DCUM that talks about Dartmouth. The Dartmouth grads are... something else.

My own personal experience after 30+ years on wall street is that I have yet to meet an impressive Dartmouth grad based on intellectual capacity

I may be biased as a Columbia grad but they have a reputation as a collegial gregarious crowd but with limited tangible abilities although I am sure there are exceptions

30 years on wall street makes you an expert on intellectual capacity?

You may be right but, with limited exceptions, Columbia grads aren’t exactly known for their social skills, either.

I'm someone who usually prefers to spend time with what you might think of as Vassar or Oberlin types to Dartmouth types but I know many wonderful Dartmouth grads. They're smart, nice, empathetic, and not self centered. I'm sure Dartmouth attracts some jerks but come on.

I've always liked Dartmouth grads more than those from Harvard, Yale or Princeton. Talk about insufferable.
