I still don't understand what classroom monitors are for

And they’ve all had teachers covering classes or subs and then reverting to DL when they ran out. I know people who work in those districts. It is not “working.” I know one teacher who has had to quarantine 5 times due to exposure at school. Her whole class too.

Everyone except the actual teachers home in their jammies would prefer their child's class go virtual for a week and then go back in WITH THEIR TEACHER then some minimum wage babysitter sitting in the class with them.

I don't understand how thousands of FCPS have rare health conditions that don't afflict every other teaching community in the country.

They don't have a rare diseases. They have the health conditions that were listed by the CDC as individuals that needed to be more careful during the pandemic.

But now, there's a vaccine, so.....

And you can still get CoVID WITH THE VACCINE which wouldn’t be a big deal for most of us but would be if you have a serious health condition.

No. But if they already have a ADA waiver to work from home because of their health it’s irrelevant. That is granted for the duration of the year. Pregnant women have it because it’s been very unclear how CoVID OR the vaccine could affect a baby. Y’all need to just chill. We have the staff to go back. People with health issues are not your enemies smh it’s so pathetic

The slides say FCPS needs 272 additional hires. Cohorts 7&8 are listed as caution due to staffing.

I am not blaming people with health issues, but if this RTS doesn’t happen Brabrand will claim it’s staffing. He always has before.

There's no guarantee that someone is granted an ADA for the entire year. Circumstances change. The vaccine was available.

But it's still going to take a long time to work through all of those ADA forms. These teachers are protected by federal law. FCPS is not going to send an email one day saying okay everybody come back. It's going to be a process whether or not you like it.

You are effectively saying pregnant women and people with cancer should be fired. Losers. Replete losers.

Sweetie, your vacation is over. It's time for you to go back to work.

This was a vacation? May all your future vacations be as horrible and stressful as this past year has been for me. Bibbidy Bobbidy Boo. There, I cursed you. Here’s hoping it takes.

Do you... do you think FCPS wants monitors watching your kids? That this is like, the good plan? No. We all know it sucks. But if you want your kids in the building you can deal. In fact, back when y’all were telling teachers to quit en masse, many of you literally said “ a bus driver can teach my kids if they’re in the building.” You don’t actually care who watches your kids as long as it isn’t you. You just want to punish teachers because you’re a sad shrew.

It will happen. They’ll put your kids in and then you’ll get an email one day if there’s nobody to cover the class and your kid has to do DL that day.

Ah, you have discovered the secret: teachers and school staff are parents too and everything that happens re: schools happens to us in two ways: as employees and as parents whose kids are affected.

No, you might be able to get covid with the vaccine, but it isn't a big deal for the person who gets it, because the vaccine prevents severe disease, even in those with health conditions, What is a big deal if you pass it on to someone else.

So, until we know whether someone with the vaccine can spread asymptomatically, teachers who are vaccinated will still need to distance from students, wear mask, quarantine if exposed, etc . . .

Of course it's not common. The person who has that situation raises it to justify why all teachers can't go back.

No reasonable parent wants teachers who *legitimately* has medical grounds for an ADA to teach in person. If one can't be vaccinated due to some *medical* condition that makes getting the vaccine risky, of course no parent is going to say that teacher should get vaccinated.

About 2,000 teachers got ADAs. The parents have a problem with the bad apples that slipped into that group when they shouldn't have been allowed in that group.

That's not going to happen, but enjoy your petty, powerless little fantasy.

I don't have the latest stats, but there were 12,500 teachers in school year 2016-2017. So about 15% of them got ADA accommodation to teach virtually. Is 15% high or about to be expected?

Okay genius. Here’s why you need monitors. Because you’ve decided to be obtuse.

Teacher goes in unvaccinated. Contracts CoVID. Or is a close contact with someone positive and has to quarantine. Whoops. She has to teach from home for 2 weeks. In person kids need a monitor.

Teacher kids go to school. THEY get exposed and / or infected. She has to take leave to stay home with them. Maybe can teach at home... BUT IN PERSON KIDS NEED MONITORS

Your retributive and punitive cruelty to feel better only hurts you and YOUR KIDS. No monitors, have fun staying DL.

Teachers will be vaccinated by the time school is in-person. There is no issue here, and certainly no need for monitors.

Once again, ADA was granted for this entire school year and regardless of who is vaccinated or not, will not be revoked. Sorry you don't like it.

So if parents continue to demand in person at all costs this school year, yes, monitors will be needed to babysit in person "DL."

Sweetie, you have absolutely zero power over teachers. Go help your kids with their distance learning. Run along now
