LCPS return to in-person instruction postponed indefinitely

Well the motion before the school board is 2/16 K-5 and 3/3 6-12. And Beth Barts has already indicated she will vote for it. So yes, we think its pretty likely to happen.

So kind of like a year of DL... I’ll take it.

From 0-10 How mad are parents about IT?

Look, you seem really confused. Teachers will be vaccinated. Kids have the choice to stay home.

* I am not confused *

Teachers can be vaccinated . Yay!
My kids can’t. UNTIL THIS WEEK, it has been the case that above 200/100k and 10% PCR was not safe due to spread. Suddenly we can be 4x higher than the first and 5.5% elevated behind the second and it’s ok? No. Yet if I feel unsafe MY KIDS HAVE TO SWITCH CLASSES. That’s insane. I’m not confused; I am allowed to be annoyed by this bait and switch.

What's changed is teachers are getting vaccinated so the metrics mean less to them.

I get that but the kids can’t be vaccinated. So now I get to decide do I risk their health in the highest numbers we’ve had and the possibility of them bringing it home to us OR switch them to an entirely different class in February. I understand nobody here cares because their kids are finally getting out of their house which is all most of you seem to care about but same parents do actually worry about this stuff beyond OPEN SCHOOL NOW.

Nah. Hybrid will be back Q4 and fall will be 5 days for all.

You’re lucky dreaming is free of charge. Otherwise I’d slap you with a hefty fine for speaking all that charlatanish nonsense.

PPR is already heading down and old people are being vaccinated. Q4 is two months away - PPR will be below 10% by then.

Good thing that old people will be the ones in the classrooms.

Then you should have chosen DL for your child in November. Be mad at yourself.

Your observation and your conclusion are equally baffling. Also, why are you insulting me while sending me gingerbread men?

There is not going to be that many kids in a classroom, they are going to be masked, and schools will close at the first sign of trouble. The risk is relatively low for you and your kids.

Risk their health? Have your kids stayed home and out of school all winter long in previous years? The flu was more deadly to children than COVID is.

Please stop with the it’s not as bad as ~flu argument . This isn’t March 2020. I am irate the school board jerks us around every two weeks and won’t even stick to their OWN metrics . By this logic why haven’t kids been in all winter? There was no need to pause back in December when numbers weren’t this high if we can waive them now. It’s about public trust. If they don’t have faith in their own plans and numbers , and change them constantly, how can we?

I’m a teacher so obviously I’m a slave to the capitalist society.

However, I am flabbergasted at how much school board, superintendent and other charlatans simply do not give a flying phuck about anything. They will make great politicians. Spineless useless pieces of shit selling themselves to the warmest sun

If you can't see the damage being done to our children who started the school years weeks late, lost 20% of the normal yearly education, struggle daily with watching teachers faces on a 2 inch by 2 inch square, having to learn much of the material on their own or supplement with tutors, etc., then we're truly flabbergasted.
