| Does anyone think that USA swimming lifting the meet sanctions will have any affect on PVS? |
Yes! I don't think that we'll see the same number of meets, but I think some of the older kids will start competing safely in October or November. |
Competing safely? - How?! |
This. What are "more interesting sports"? Also, some people don't want their kids to play contact sports because of head injuries and the like. |
|
swimming is a real sport -- swimmers don't play -- they compete
speed is the key -- so you have world record of swimming events. You can ONLY play football, basketball, volleyball, golf, tennis etc -- it is just to play. |
Ummm, last time I checked swimming was a “serious” sport. And the kids work harder in practice than just about any other sport out there. Please go back to the Lacrosse Forum. Thanks! |
Yes. Our club is actively preparing for meets now. They might be virtual to start, but we anticipate starting some type of competition in Oct or Nov. |
| Anyone else have info? Our club hasn’t mentioned a thing. |
Check out the PVS website (pvswim.org). There's not a lot going on, but you can see what announcements have been made, some ideas of moving forward, and you can keep an eye on what some clubs are doing for small meets. There is one meet posted now. It is at the St. James. It will be interesting to see what other sites are willing/able to host. If you are not at a PVS club, check MD Swimming, etc. |
MD Swimming has released a set of guidelines for virtual meets and they will now sanction meets (as of 9/18). The senior swimmers from our club will be doing an inter-squad meet with a neighboring club in the next few weeks. We are starting out small but it will be great to get the kids back to competition! |
| No news right now per our club (PVS) |
|
Our PVS club is beginning to schedule meets. They have one on the calendar for 13+ and are planning one fore 12 and under.
The number of events per day is greatly reduced, I assume to spread out events and heats. |
PVS site has a few events up there. Meets will look very different (small and short) which honestly is a good thing. |
| Has anyone who attended an indoor swim meet this summer/fall (heard NOVA has had a few?) speak to the COVID procedures and how many kids were at each session? Thank you! |
There are results on PVS's website. That might have some of the information you want. |
