The one thing I said was that I didn't want a barker - well, the dog barks incessantly every time he is put into his crate. No amount of (expensive) training has cured her of that. I say give the dog away and replace her with an easier dog. Your child will eventually forget the hard dog and love the easier dog. Make the child who cares the most for the other dog help you choose the easier one. I'm nearly there too.

This is disgusting. Truly repulsive.

Anyone who gets rid of a dog, barring aggression or some other unsolvable problem (this does not sound like one) should not get another dog.

Lol. A dog is not a person. Having a pet is supposed to be an enhancement and enjoyment for the family. If it’s not working out get rid of the dog and get another, or don’t. You dog worshippers are truly bizarre.

Op if it’s not working out, get rid of it! It’s just an animal.

A dog is a living creature deserving of love and attention. You should get a stuffed dog if you want it to be perfect.

What's the issue if the dog goes to a loving home?

Serious question, why does a dog “deserve” love? Do chickens, pigs, and cows deserve love too?

Excuse me? Why does a dog who is living in your home worthy of love? Were you dropped on your head as a baby? Do you lack a heart?

I don’t have a dog living in my house!

I know this is an old comment, but you are a despicable human being. Truly awful.

If it goes to a loving home why is it so bad?
It's like parents putting up a baby for adoption if they know they can't handle a baby. Obv it's later but it is a dog not a human.

There is a vast difference between "I'm sadly going to have to try to find a loving home for my dog where he can get the love, attention and care he deserves, because I am not capable of providing it", and "Just get rid of it, dogs exist for our pleasure, get rid of it if you want, who cares, it's just an animal".

Re-homing is not always bad. Certain attitudes expressed here are.

can chickens, cows, and pigs tell when your not breathing? Low on blood sugar? how about suicidal? depressed? I didn't think so! Dogs are a lot more intelligent than the farm animal you ate at Mcdonalds for lunch hon!

99% of dogs can’t do those things either. And I bet if some other animals were trained they could do these things too. So again, why are dogs more deserving with any of these animal?

actually, it is scientifically proven that dogs can SMELL when you are depressed, and help you cope. cows, pigs, chickens can only be trained to do something that requires repetition ie: leading the other animals in. when a chicken, pig, or cow senses danger, its first instinct is not to help you but to help itself. whereas a dog's first instinct is to protect you at all costs. that's why there are no service cows/pigs/chickens. that is why.

because they give us so much love. My shepherd mix would take a bullet for me. [b]If treated right, dogs are amazing.

If your dog knew what a bullet was, I bet it wouldn't.

True, dogs can sniff out gun powder. Still doesn't mean that a dog knows what a bullet is or what it can do if it's shot from a gun. And I have nothing against dogs.

Lol. The magical thinking around dogs is so wild and illogical.

except it's not, there are scientific studies done, people spend years trying to prove it, doesn't sound very illogical.
