Former Alabama state senator dies of Covid at 78, warns in last words, 'We messed up'

Larry Dixon was also a former executive director of the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners.

“Dr. David Thrasher, a pulmonologist in Montgomery who was a close friend of Dixon's, said Dixon's wife, Gaynell Dixon, told him that her husband's last words to her were a prescient warning to the people of Alabama.

"We messed up. We let our guard down," Dixon said, according to Thrasher. "Please tell everybody to be careful. This is real, and if you get diagnosed, get help immediately."

Dick Hinch, the newly-elected Speaker of the New Hampshire legislature suddenly died at home. The NH GOP had held a caucus on November 20, and at least 4 Republicans who attended were later diagnosed with Covid.

Will they admit he died of Covid?

Hinch was attending a virtual meeting with legislators on Tuesday, but had reportedly been feeling ill after spending most of the cold day Dec. 2 outdoors for Organization Day. He normally would have chaired the meeting had he not been feeling sick.

Rep. Sherm Packard, R-Londonderry, told people at the meeting Tuesday, which was covered by InDepthNH.org, that Hinch had cold-like symptoms that were not COVID-19-related. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

The swearing in of the the 400-member House and 24-member Senate was held outdoors at the University of New Hampshire because of the coronavirus pandemic. More than a quarter of House members, most of them Democrats, skipped the ceremony after learning the day before that several Republican lawmakers had tested positive for the virus after attending an indoor GOP caucus meeting Nov. 20 where many attendees weren’t wearing masks.

Rs are tough. They aren't scared of a little thing called covid. Not wearing a mask during a pandemic shows that they are "real men", and now some dead men. See how tough they are?
