No one wants to oppress white people or make them bow down. People just want equality across the races.
i don't think anybody could claim that this photo is objectionable because it is an example of nonwhites making whites "bow down."
the ridicule is aimed at the virtue signaling white people for engaging in such embarrassing silliness.
Bingo.
Why is it not virtue signaling when my priest does it on Holy Thursday?
+1. Some of this right wingers don't know the Bible at all.
Really? Jesus washed the feet of his disciples, not to ask forgiveness, but as a reminder that we are called to serve others. This is why a priest might wash the feet of his parishioners - to illustrate that we are to do our work, to serve others, even if we think it might be beneath us. The white people in this video were asking the black people for *forgiveness*. Big difference.
Wrong. They are not washing feet for forgiveness - they are doing it as an act of service and humility as equals believing in the same holy God. I’ve washed feet and had mine washed. Have you? Ever? Have you ever taken a knee in honor? Or perhaps for a proposal? Or prayer? Altar call, or communion? This is why some religious based rituals are not made public, but all are welcome privately with free will. There are many different religions and practices in this world, and especially in our very diverse metropolitan communities. what looks normal to one eye can be offensive to another if taken out of context of without an understanding of the practice. So it is important to listen. There isn’t one singular, perfect, correct and simplified answer.
People who truly study and meditate on the word of God may have very different conclusions from this. Certainly not suggestions of oppression as what is being suggested. Although, I can see where others would try to manipulate the intention for their narrative.
