Pride being based out of the St James may take longer to get to than going to a Howard County team....as far as MC.....I don't see how they can turn this around.....leadership doesn't even like to acknowledge a problem!....and after looking at these other websites I am noticing what could be vs what is and well....... |

We chose M & D for 8 grade and beyond. Honestly from MoCo, we would allow for 1.5 hours and often it took less depending on the time of day, but not always.
The coaches were transparent and fair, and interested in teaching each individual girl how to improve (at the 8th grade level the girls all had a solid interest in the game) highlighting specific areas for each girl to work on, and overall improving the girls field sense. When it came to recruiting the coaches were realistic, honest and very helpful, and helped get DD on coaches' radars. DD ended up at an Ivy, which was her second choice of schools. We looked at other teams and talked to coaches and leadership before making our choice and thought about the sacrifice for DD and the rest of the family. We did not choose MC Midnight, although it would have been much easier and more convenient, because the coaches and the leadership kept contradicting each other and themselves. |
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this out. Appreciate all the details. Thank you!!! |
| If you’re willing to drive to Baltimore you might want to consider Capital. It’s my understanding that all their teams practiced at Academy of Holy Cross this fall. |
| Thanks.... I learned of Capital in this thread as well and it sounds as though many of the MC girls went there for high school..... so that may be an option but at this point with what the kids are getting at MC they won’t be good enough to make Capital if we wait.... so unfortunate..... |
I understand that most of the girls on MC tried out for Pride and Capital and didn't make it. |
| Wow.... see I thought I read on this thread that the 23 roster looked so different this year and it was assumed it was because they went to Capital? Maybe I misunderstood.... I do know that right now these middle schoolers are not getting any consistent coaching so if we wait till high school for Capital they won’t stand a chance.... |
| Where do the capital girls come from? Stars? |
A good summary. We went the other way -- MC Midnight. The club experience was as terrible as PP predicted, but our DD was also recruited for her 2nd choice school and loves it. I'm not disputing or dismissing PP's post at all; just noting that this decision might not be as consequential as parents often think. |
what school did she end up at? did MC help her with recruiting or were you on your own? How was she able to get recruited? Congrats to your daughter! |
Class of 2020 verbal commits MC Elite: Army, Bates, William & Mary, Dartmouth, Yale, Georgetown, many others. |
That's impressive. I have no doubt the organization is as bad as people say but how are they still able to get their players into these top schools? |
| Is there any truth to the post on this or another thread that these MC girls likely all go to Stone Ridge and that is why the coach helped the recruiting? Meaning girls who play MC but from other schools don’t get the same recruiting attention? |
This is why you should not believe everything you read here. The commits going to Yale, Georgetown, and Dartmouth are not from SR. |
Ok but do they attend other private HSs with lax coaches who have connections or are they public school? |
